The Original Rebel

Jimmy Dean would have been 85 today. Though only starring as a surly youth in three films his iconic influence stretches over sixty years. We’ve seen all those lip curled images of him on a Triumph, and the racing driver to be in his fateful Porsche 356, so I chose this one of him gazing at a Siamese kitten enjoying the world around.

“Dream as if you’ll live forever.

Live as if you’ll die today.”

  1. Hey Geordie…Thanks for this post….I always forget Dean’s birthday…but somehow remember his death anniversary. One of my personal heroes also. If you’ve not been to the small memorial where he died it’s worth the (bike ride 🙂 drive and stop. Nobody else except us stopped when we were last there, but I know a few other folks for whom Jimmy is still an icon…albeit incredibly 60 years since he passed. Cheers, Les
