– two horse versus 94 ponies. Nice old farm box wagon at a driveway in Northern Illinois. To think that people used to travel around the country on dirt roads with transportation such as this. Me? I’d rather have be on my Tiger over those rural lanes.

– I just caught the tail end of this 1973 Clint Eastwood film and saw that the “Death Squad” cops were riding ‘67 Triumph T100R Daytona 500cc bikes. Earlier in the movie they rode Moto Guzzi’s Eldorado’s, also in police livery, however the stunt riders preferred the nimble characteristics of the smaller Triumph for haring across the decks of the decrepit aircraft carriers for a final showdown.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

– here’s riding buddy Dean enjoying the autumnal conditions yesterday on his Triumph Street Scrambler, which he still likes apparently, along a pineneedle dusted lane which led to a covered bridge.

– halfway along Fairfield Road a little north of Volo sits this ragged red clapped barn. I’ve passed by it numerous times so decided to stop today and memorialize its presence on the Lake County outings.

– Cool illustration of a cafe’d Triumph Bonneville under a turquoise backdrop.

– trench coat, Homburg cap and lip-clenched pipe. Oui c’est Jacques Tati. Here the gauche and somewhat inept character on his trusty Solex motorscooter with nephew perched over the rear pannier rack. Today is Tati’s birthday. “Joyeux Anniversaire Jacques!”

Dynamic composition depicting PSI Judge Anderson riding her Lawmaster through a Gotham quadrant of Mega City One with The Batman on pillion. Cape battering in the wind. Dredd scowls ominously. Art by Simon Bisley.

– whilst driving around the West Suburbs earlier this week I heard a throaty growl behind me. Coming up alongside was this tomato-red Stingray. The ‘74 model probably houses a 454 V5 Big Block engine. Looking a little rough around the edges, the owner, sporting a sturdy mustache, looked like he drove straight out of the mid-seventies.

-Eddie Van Halen played his last power chord today. Here he’s enjoying the finer things in life astride a Confederate Wraith the two wheeled version of his Fender-Gibson hybrid guitar.

– A stop-in at Waukegan Beach gives a nice view across the azure hued water of mishigami. One day I’ll have to take the Tiger along the sands for fun.

– Bright skies over Waukegan Harbor today. Cool Fall weather has arrived with a brisk breeze off the water sends the 50* temperature into the forties.

– Hardtail iron being give a steady pitch through the scrubby high desert in the sixties. Shin-high engineer boots and hooded parka are useable garb for the dry cold climes of the open lands.
