We don’t need another hero

Tina

What a voice and charismatic presence the indefatigable Ms Turner had. Stretching from the 50’s into the 21st Century her impact in the music industry was colossal. She was also a motorcycle rider. A favorite bike being an Electra Glide HD. Though here is a younger gal with a sixties BSA.

Pineapple Posing

Fresh Air and a Smike

Hardtail chopper using a pre-unit Triumph motor is photographed like a prized possession. Bikini clad model says its two-wheeled summer fun ahead. Weather is improving here in the Midwest and a Sunday ride is planned. Pina Colada anyone?

Farkles and Gewgaws

Gimcrackery

Accessorize the ride. A plethora of fixin’s to spruce up the bike. From a studded kidney belt, to Davy Crockett tail tassels. I’d rather just leave the Triumph we’ll enough alone.

Western Tassels

Wild West Wear and Women

International Women’s day was this past week. To further celebrate the amazing deeds women take on with assured aplomb here’s a lass and her desert sled still knocked up and grizzly from an outback hare.

Some special treatment to this Triumph. The Acme custom parts catalogue was ransacked to fettle this beauty. Of its time.

One Million Years

The Fantastic Voyage

One of the twentieth century’s sex symbols, Raquel Welch, passed away today aged 82. Known for her furry bikini outfit that she wore in One Million Years BC then featured on a poster adorning many teenage boys walls – later used to cover Andy Dufresne’s cell wall escape hole. “Time and Pressure”. She’s looking darn purdy on this vintage motorcycle.

Hope Springs Eternal

Bob’s yer uncle

USO favorite Bob Hope looking smart on this well-travelled BSA with a lady friend- approximately 1950 so he’s well into the series of Road to… films with co-star Bing Crosby. Signs on the bike refer to riding 101 through the Redwood forested Mendocino County.

Muse

Glamor Gals

Most published illustrations are based on staged photographs. Norman Rockwell’s covers for The Saturday Evening Post we’re such examples. Here is a piece of work by one of his contemporaries Gil Elvgren, who was known for his pin-up girls as well as advertising illustrations for companies such as Brown & Bigelow. Many of his ladies ended up as nose art on WW2 bombers.
