– I should find something to get my idle hands onto. A Vincent or Norton looking for a warm workshop. Recovery through Restoration. Apologies for the lack of posts, a few personal issues arose these past few weeks. Hope to get a few things shifting on the Blog soon.
Motorcycle racer, engineer and innovator Howard R Davies sits proudly on his sleek powerful 350cc machine. HRD went on to become Vincent and the rest is history.
– on our road trip through Iowa we stopped in at this impressive collection of motorcycles. Here is a selection of engines spanning 7 decades. More to follow this week!
– nothing like the thunderous roar of the Vincent Twin. Not even the cacophony of an HD comes near. Pure engineering.
– old pic from a bygone era. Vincent owner sits proudly with a lucky young lad on the corner of Brevitt Road and Wanderers Avenue in the Midland city of Wolverhampton. The penny loafers with trousers tucked into the socks are quite a look. Probably just going to pop down to get some milk for the tea…
– typically the Vincent is finished in gloss black, but this one has been painted fire engine red. It sets the engine off very well. Like emergency vehicles I bet this would part traffic.
& Red all over
– what a glorious looking beast. Like a hot coal blistering through the atmosphere this Vincent is a searing bullet of horse power. Bloody hell it looks sharp!
– black ‘n’ white doodle of the lump of a vee twin engine that powers The Vincent. Engineering prowess.
– Welsh singer actor Lee Evans promoting a thirties vibe in sheepskin lined belted leather coat, tall engineer boots, and over the shoulder napsack. The Vincent Comet is a suitable motorcycle prop for the magazine shoot. The vintage backdrop adds a perfect foil.
Comet
…another illustration from Akita Sorimachi of a Vincent riding cove clad in belted trench coat, plaid trousers and flat cap. Fine drawing indeed.
Seventh | in the late eighties we were up to regeneration number eight for The Doctor. Sylvester McCoy was the Time Lord and his sidekick Mel by the 70’s child star Bonnie Langford. When the Tardis is parked up they can tear around aboard a beautiful Vincent combination.
