Razzo Rosso

Cool Cockpit – I really liked this racing set up on a 450 Desmo Ducati. Everything is spare and just-so for track speeds. Tuck and put yer chin on the tank.

Blot on the landscape – Not!

A few more images to share highlighting the varied vitality of the Motoblot scene. Choppers, custom engines and saddles, gams on the go and hotrods. Oh, and not to mention motorcycles. Look out for that picnic basket laden Moto Guzzi scooter!

Rockers Reunion

Motoblot – a hot, hot, hot day in the City. Winding through slow weekend traffic for an hour to attend the rockers biker gathering. Music, pinup gals, local beer, hot rods, and bikes; hunnerts of bikes. No two alike, each individual. Love it!  Rode home along Lake Street (under the long straight el tracks, a la French Connection) along Wacker Drive, padded along Michigan Avenue then a zoom north up Lake Shore Drive.

Mad Dogs?

Midsummer Moto- a warming June Sunday morning saw a splendid 80 Mike round trip to the Wisconsin state line. A new leafy backroad through weekend-quiet commercial districts and horse farms was mapped. Pancakes ‘n’ coffee in Zion and back through the shady turns of Sherudan Road.

Sunlight

Yesterday the Cub emerged from its formative hibernation. Though it didn’t kick-over due to a possible ignition timing issue it sure looked good in the sunlight. It was loaded onto Deans truck – well we’ve seen a bike in the back of the Ranger before…

The Promised Land

Emily’s Pancake House, Zion IL – halfway on the spring jaunt with the Bonnie’s. The weather was perfect, bikes ran great and the coffee and blueberry topped stack of ‘cakes were delish!

Smashing just

Sunny, sunny, sunny. Bike is running well, new wheels and tires are confident underboot, and the new lid is a comfy brain-shed.

It doesn’t get much better than this!

Blue Friday

Sun and Seventies forecast for the weekend so the first ride of the year is planned. This gal is tearing out at speed to the coming Saturday…

TBT

It’s not easy being green: so says our favorite amphibian muppet. But we can have fun whilst donning a verdant hue! Here’s my Kawasaki ZX6 from 15 years ago which was my sole transportation in Chicago at the time. It had a beefy growl as the speed picked up with the ram air intake, and the Micron pipe I put on added to the engines accompanying bass percussion. Loved that moto!

Team Green

To celebrate St Patrick’s day here is a couple of old snaps from the memory banks. Me and my Kawasaki Ninja which was my main mode of transportation for a few years when we first settled here in Chicago. She had plenty of oomph, easily cracking the ton and a half, and that lime green sure was a purdy color.

I really enjoyed zipping along Lake Shore Drive ; water on one side, buildings the other.

Airing-out

Dusted the cobwebs off, wiped down the old gal and took ‘er out for a quick spin. Well, to get a gas top up. Looking spiffy in front of this Evanston coach house. Looking forward to spring rides into the North Illinois and Wisconsin hinterland.

Land of Lincoln

The State of Illinois license plate is kinda boring.. But someone here managed to acquire a suitably named item for their British iron.

As a true Geordie would say: “whey aye Bonny lad!”

Fixed

One of my old trusty fixed gear bikes.. Now long gone after an abrupt meeting with a car door. It was a steel framed Schwinn and 27″ wheels the rear being a flip flop fixed gear on one side and freewheel the other. Great for nipping around the City and up and down the Lakefront.

The picture say it all! This new bike is an absolute gem to behold. Enjoy the details.

Reborn

This is the centerpiece of the show: T120R Bonneville. It’s exciting, nimble looking, beautifully executed and is a visual clone to the sublime ’68 Bonnie. From a narrow corseted waist that you experience when sitting on, to the appearance of the engine with hints of Edward Turners original twin from the 30’s.

Silver and crimson separated by a gold pinstripe. Knee pads to hug the tank when whittling along curvy roads. Fuel injected engine with a suite of mapping for different road conditions behind the Amal look alike Concentrics; just needs a tickler button.

Named fender support fork brace, rubber bellow fork boots, twin clocks and a beautiful headlight offer a clean prow.

Even from the rear the hourglass shape is evident. A generous pillion loop allows two-up fun; hopefully a lively 1200cc motor will mean ease of passenger carrying.

Bonnie is Back!
