The original settlement location on the Chicago River is just by Michigan Avenue Bridge. A nice spot downtown to enjoy the skyline and waterway. Here’s Dean with his cool Triumph Street Scrambler.

– Early Sunday morning ride down LDS to a near deserted Loop. Millpond-calm Lake on the drivin’ side and glistening buildings lit up by a bright and crisp sunlight.

– standing proudly on the east bank of the Fox River near Geneva IL a mid Nineteenth Century Dutch mill offers an historic backdrop to my early morning ride along the Tri-City region between Elgin and Aurora. The all wood structure is fully functional driven from its fabric covered sails. This pre-industrial age technology was a stark contrast to the particle accelerator at nearby Fermilab with its circular Tevatron which runs its circular path around a prairie grassland.

To close the week off in a high point we took the bikes or a circle of the North Shore. Woodsmoke wafted across tree lined suburban backroads and cooling air refreshed a work worn mind. First time I’ve had the new Tiger out at night. Lights work great!

Route 66
We had a full day ride looping mid-north Illinois. Heading down old Highway Sixty Six from where it springs at Lake Shore Drive it runs parallel to Interstate 55 through small grain fed towns. A stretch between Dwight and Bloomington has a vestige of one of the southbound lanes alongside the road. The telegraph poles still line the grass cracked asphalt.

Back Roads
– A winding route up through Lake County saw our wheels rolling along this narrow gravelly lane through shoulder-high corn crops, blanketing soy bean fields , horse pastures, and arching oak trees. Away from the City’s hustle and bustle; at least for a morning.

– as part of yesterday’s City tour we dropped kickstands just outside of the Wrigley Building. 35 W Wacker, The Jewelers Building, looms beacon-like over Michigan Avenue Bridge.

Early Morning Spin
– with an expected temperature to hit the high nineties today we set off to get in a dawn ride into the City and along the Lakefront. Here are the bikes at a very photogenic spot at the Adler Planetarium looking back to the Chicago skyline.

– a fun rear camera shot of the two of us on the harbor front. Lake Michigan stirring in a light odorous chop with a cooling air drifted over the freshwater to us.

– lovely ride up to Winthrop Harbor this evening . Quiet roads with few cars and perfect temperatures.

We dusted off, gassed up, and rolled out the old Bonnie’s for a nice Saturday afternoon ride up north. Leaves are emerging as spring temperatures rise and the sun shines.

– doin’ his stuff across southeast Wisconsin. Beautiful day with very pleasant roads. Spring has well and truly sprung.

We managed a nice 100 mile jaunt up through a quiet Lake County this afternoon. Temperatures touching 60 and deciduous foliage staring to emerge. Getting a better hand of the helmet camera. Will post a video later this week after editing…

Some fresh air was thoroughly enjoyed today with a splendid outing around Lake Geneva. Blue skies with a few scudding clouds driven by stiff winds. We stopped in at Yerkes Observatory near Williams Bay. Still getting to grips with the “GoPro”.
– in these days of shut-in requirements a quick ride can give you the mental therapy and burst of fresh air to keep you sane.
