Stamp

Philatelist – beautiful classic British bikes adorn these stamps used to mail letters, postcards, and parcels across the country & world. Issued on July 19, 2005. QE2 looks one way while the motos head the other.

Silly Cycles

Krazy MotoSickles – old chewing gum cards of custom bikes and a bunch of kooky riders. Very sixties/seventies. Ed Roth aka Big Daddy, would be proud!

” Wot is …is…what aint…aint…! ”

ACE

Top Trump – Top Triumph – classic schoolyard card game of seeing which specification of different collections of vehicle match against each other. Aircraft, ships, cars, military, commercial, racing. I had a set of racing motorcycles and fighter jets.

Zig Zag Gal

Traffic Zapper – scooter traveler to carry out much needed shopping in a gridlocked urban environment. A very elegant lady in her a-line dress will be like Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday.

Letraset

Dry Transfer Graphics – sheets of lettering, symbols and line work were used for crisp artwork before desktop publishing on computers. I remember rubbing down titles and labels letter by letter, or tracing fonts from the extensive catalogue. Here’s their motorcycle line work used for scale elevation or plan drawings. It’s all CAD Adobe Photoshop or a plethora of other graphics programs we use today. Now don’t get me started about Letratone or Letraline…

Drawn Line

AutoCAD – someone adept at the ubiquitous vector graphic drafting program created a clean side view of a featherbed framed Triton. Triton was Poseidon’s son – per yesterday’s post with his Trident.

Spanner or Wrench

My buddy Dean saw this sales card in a Sears store where the automotive tools were. Craftsman ratchet and spark plug socket being put to good use on a bobber Triumph. The image is used in a number of advertising guises.

Toot

Blow your own Trumpet – an illustrators version of some internal combustion instrument. Taking the exhaust via sissy-bar piping to a flute-like horn. Kiwi artist is Kelvin Mann who creates a kind of Heath Robinson quirk.

You Have Mote Fun

Spot the Reedus – people on the Mighty Interweb have come up with classic photoshopped images using vintage photos, postcards or adverts dropping in Norman Reedus. This Johnson Motors Triumph ad is one such example, just needs his winged leather vest.

Fiery Flame

Nose Art Tattoo – Bonneville Belle takes the saddle on this graphic trackster steed. Looks ready enough to be emblazoned across the fuselage of a B-17 Flying Fortress.

Bellerophons Steed

Pegasus – the flying horse. A beautifully embroidered denim jacket by a fine handed needlesmith Lillian Davis. Apparently she had this painted on her Triumpg petrol tank too.

Hidden

Cover up! This would be a neat tarp for the Bonnie. A red bike cover with the marque logo emblazened across it.

Shangri-La

Kashmir – one of the jewels of the Indian Crown. Flower heavy valleys with tea fed villages amidst soaring mountains dappled in an icy grip. Ideal ground to take an old Triumph or, even better, a Royal Enfield. One of my dream journeys.

Brexit Brouhaha

A new Prime Minister was announced today back in blighty. After all the political shenanigans of the last couple of weeks where the population voted to leave the European Union and those that laid the way have jumped ship then a new leader was seen to be the best option… Good luck everyone in the UK… You’re gonna need it!

I give this my full support

The Other Triumph – a lingerie manufacturer that has been making intimate apparel since the 1880’s used a nice ribbon-like logo with crowning motif. Our faithful motorcycle makers marque has been using a swooshing leg’d R for decades. A new bra and pantie maker jump on the latters look. Adore Me – complete with swoosh… Trademark infringement?
