1 Shot style

Kustom Kulture – whilst the bikers were waiting for ‘kickstands up’ this artist was showing off his talent of freehand pinstriping on a kid. The long bristled brush is traditionally squirrel fur and the bamboo handle short and rounded for easy control of smooth lines.

I wouldn’t mind getting some on the Bonnie’s tank…

Petrol

Crazing – I just loved the ceramic-like surface patina to this Triumph tank. The ivory swoosh emphasizes the peardrop shape; and the badge, filler cap and bolt cover add ornamentation.

Darwinian progressions

Eight Years Ago – I took the rebuilt Bonnie out for a spin along Lake Shore Drive. A happy broad grinned memory. Parked-up at the Adler Planetarium I snapped a photo with the Chicago skyline beyond. It sported Gulf colors, original wheels and brakes and upright bars and footpegs. Well, I had evolved from there. A larger British tank in Mango Tango orange; rear-sets and ace bars; alloy wheels with modern rubber tires; and a disc brake front end. Where will it go from here? Time will tell!

Over & Under

A Bridge too far – black and white stark graphic of zooming Bonneville with the arched trusses of a span overhead. Nice composition, with essence of speed and support both.

Embroidery

Patch – roaring leaping Tiger . Big teeth and massive paws.

Ripping

Claws – the sharp retractable nails of a feline paw. The weapon of choice to grab and hold prey. Deadly stealth.

Magnifying Moto’s

Close-Up – finishing off the week with some choice details of several motorbikes from last weekend. From Arial, Honda, Kawasaki, BMW, to Norton and Triumph. Some original, some personalized; from badges to pinstripes; tank, fairing, frame and fender.

Moto Jaune

Ten Seconds – they say to cheer yourself up for the day is to stare at something yellow for 10 seconds… well, here goes!

Baby Blue

Daytona – little brother of the Bonneville. Though only 500cc’s against the 650 T120 it still managed to maintain an enviable racing career. This original example is owned by Ed Zender; he’d just pulled it from storage the day before. I’m including the old shop sign from the earlier location up on Route 173 near Richmond IL.

Dog Rider

Hound – it takes a canine nose to enjoy the fast winds from a moving vehicle. Especially if it’s a cafe racer. Be-goggled pup smiles and wags their tail to promote speed conjuring components.

Black ‘n’ White and Red all over

Woodcut Wheelie! Stunning black and red print-like graphic of some riding dude hauling their Triumph onto its back wheel.

Collage

Greeting Card – a work colleague saw this card built up using layers of cutout paper. Nicely done – I made a request for my next birthday…

Black Cat Turquoise Trident

The Mother Road – beautiful crisp graphic art by Antonio Ortega showing a MotoGirl sitting recumbent on her speeding triple. A lucky cat sits contentedly at pillion. All is Good in the World.

Three deaf men

Windy today! No it’s Thursday! So am I, let’s have a drink! A sunny antipodean outlook is set off with some competition winner who takes home a spangly new Triumph Bobber.

Remember it’s Hump-Day so…

Five Corbies

Five Crows – companions on a ride. Appropriately a Triumph 6T Thunderbird. The linocut is quite perfectly composed, with the necessary dark and light creating the image beautifully. The crow is one of my favorite birds; intelligent, curious, blue black plumage as dark as a storm. From the capable artisan hands of Matylda Mcilvenny from Sweden. See her work at the Etsy shop GoneUndoneSthlm.
