A beautiful panoramic image of a modern Thruxton (yes close to the top of my want list!) being sped along a clean stretch od asphalt. Nicely composed photom wheel spin blur, a little background movement, classic!
Another couple of great black and white photographs of the Thruxton and fair haired owner.

Sometimes bike photography can look sterile, lifeless, technical. But biking is more than that; it’s vital and exciting, dynamic and thrilling, ego-centering and mind-expanding.
A bunch of folks take their Triumph bobbers out to the wide spaces of the desert; the sun, the air and the horizon…

Another fine illustration from Taiyo LaPaix of his ego self and muse. Pappilla, riding a bobbed Triumph. Galatea refers to Pygmalians ‘brought to life’ statue whom he falls in love with. Seems appropriate for the subject.

…appreciating fine bikes that is! Here’s an item available from the Triumph Store as an accessory: a childrens colouring-in book of the current range of motorcycles; from Bonnies to Speed Triples. I wish I had this as a kid!

Further to yesterdays piece relating the artwork to the fine inkwork found in a Broons page; well here’s a part of a story relating to Hen Broon being chased to their highland retreat, the But ‘n’ Ben, only to find it’s headed by none other than Granpaw Broon… crivvens whit fun!
All Broons artwork harks back to the definitive linework of Dudley D. Watkins. Who inked The Broons, Oor Wullie and Desperate Dan of the Beano for 30 odd years before his death in 1969.

To the finish line! A comicbook brush and ink illustration of a haring Triumph swept by the chequered flag. Looks like it was for ’69. Has shades of the Broons or Oor Wullie.

A superb sketch advert from the mid-fifties of a Triumph acting as tea delivery ride in a car race. The effortless linework achieves a sense of speed and fluid brushwork on the people add livliness. wash and white lines fill the graphic. “It’s Easy-” The cheeky chappy with the T-UP sign… priceless like Dandy comics.

I found this illustrator on another moto blog and really like his style; superb handsketching with a distictive line. Both coloured pencils and paint. He’s based in Asheville NC and most of his work includes his muse Pappilla LaPaix, an imaginary gal with an unassuming self confidence. You believe she’s real with the expressions he has her ‘pose’. Fun and lively stuff! Oh, and she’s sitting on a nice Bonnie Bobber.

A couple of evenings ago a commercial on TV had a couple of flashes of vintage Triumph whizz past a New York street scene; the advert was for eyeshadow by Maybelline… … well what better moto to drape a eyelash fluttering model than a gorgeous aubergine and cream Bonnie?

Saw this on Ride the Machine blog today, just HAD to add it here, an adaptation of a McQueen jump aboard the Great Escape Triumph… .. looks like a sprayed mural about 6′ high or so.
… here’s original graphic:

A strong message with this 60’s advert: implying a Triumph gives you a sense of power! The gal is aloof aboard the bike with, what look like, her business, architect and sportman contemporary bretheren. Read into it what you will!

An evocative painting of Percy Tait aboard a racing Triumph in the late 60’s. One time Triumph road tester he also raced the bikes; including Slippery Sam, which gained its name when the oil pump spewed Percy’s boot with the black stuff at a Bol d’Or 24 hour race. Percy was at the very sharp end of Triumph testing in the sixties especially the powerful triples racking up an estimated million miles around the roads and racetracks of the UK for Triumph.
Painting by Derek Sparkes.

At a folk creative workshop in North Carolina I worked in the print class. Using old credit card swipe machines and carefully carved lino sheet a small reproducable print could be made. I worked on an image of my Triumph. Came out pretty good for second go at printmaking…

The Thompson Twins and Snowy take fright as our intrepid hero de jour takes flight on his motorcycle.
There’s a good chance he’s astride a Terrot, the makers of the Gallic ‘cycle brand that was based in Dijon. Here’s a 1930 model the 350cc HST
Note: Hergé was the pen name of Georges Prosper Remi, writer and artist (1907-83) his name being his initials backwards RG in french of course!
