Bank Robbery – a 1971 film starring Ernest Borgnine and Bette Davis as an unconventional pair of thieves. In wigs and fake beard disguises their getaway vehicle is non traditional too: a Triumph Trophy 250, bit of a cream-puff when it comes to power. I know this was the bike I had when first arriving in the ‘States and indeed got my motorcycle license on. I wouldn’t do errands on it never mind a bank robbery!

Hulk
Please don’t make me angry; you won’t like me when I’m angry. The latest iteration of the green behemoth via The Avengers movie sees the diminutive physicist Dr Bruce Banner being played by as bespectacled Mark Ruffalo. His mode of transport? A dusty patina’d Triumph looking like it’s seen plenty of lonely miles. This model kit at sixth scale certainly lost is the part for any comic book fan.

Speeder Bike Chase – Princess Leia in control of an imperial speeder bike as it zooms through the forest moon of Endor. One of the greatest scenes in Return of the Jedi. Well, today saw the passing of Carrie Fisher at age 60. As well as her hair-do’s and clothing, such as the classic Jabbas sail barge bikini, she made the role her own.

The Little World
Don Camillo – the post WW2 Roman Catholic priest in the small fictional Italian village on the River Po. His japes and escapades with the left-wing mayor Peppone a a thing of legend written by Giovannini Guareschi who was born on this day in 1908. The pair seen scooting about in a Moto Guzzi combination in true comradeship.
This movie poster has them dealing with a biker gang who comes into town. I loved the stories growing up- simpler times after the tumult of a war.

Headstand Trials
Balance- trials champion, stunt rider, motorcycle hall of fame inductee. Debbie Evans rode as she learned to walk has impeccable two-wheel control. As well as the fine technical abilities of a trials competitor she could handle fast bikes as a Hollywood stuntwoman making the movie Moto heroines appear superhuman.
She can defy gravity with ballet-like poise.
