Pillion Paw – after my mothers pose with the Bonnie yesterday, here’s the other half. We look like Che & Alberto ready to cross South America. “¡Hasta la victoria siempre!”

Me Ma – here’s our mother with me at the garage with the bikes. I was showing off the Cub. My folks are in town for a fortnight. We then went to the Bunny Hutch on Rt41 for Hot dogs (Chicago style of course!)

Michigan & Van Buren – heading to a meeting in the City today I spied this well suited feller on his shiny Bonneville rumbling into the Loop and some high rise occupation. I would have just kept going and enjoyed the perfect weather.

Thruxton – of all the delicious motorcycles gathered together on Sunday the tastiest was the be Thruxton. It just looks superb and talking to some owners rides superb too. Someone had a British Racing Green color scheme that was sublime… But I do like the rocket-red one.

TBT – I know that less than a week has passed since the weekend ride, but some other people’s photos of the day are better ng published. I found a couple with me zooming by… Well that’s just neat!

Black ‘n’ White & Red all over – more goodies spied at the weekend. A one lunged shark motif Suzuki grimacing down the road. The half century patina on an original complete Triumph Cub. The beautiful lines of a BSA A10 with stacked rifle emblem on the three cornered timing cover. And the L-twin Ducati which in this case included a bevel drive sight glass, polished tank completed the cafe style.
All good stuff.

DGR – LOOP – LSD
The bikers took over the City yesterday. Nearly 400 en masses snaked through the grid aligned streets. Horn blared, engines roared and pedestrians cheered. Everyone was smiling.

Dapper – a great turn-out for the Chicago DGR on a warm September Sunday. Lots a great bikes with riders and many pillion dressed to the nines as a convoy of over three hundred went through The Loop, along Lake Shore Drive, had a quick stop at Holiday Club and back to the Cobra Lounge. My garb was overalls, shirt and tie, black Doc Martin brogues and white socks.

Born in the USA – 67 years ago today! New Jerseys voice and son: Bruce Springsteen who gave a pulse to the working mans plight in the Heartland. He’s enjoyed Triumphs since he was teen with a new guitar.

Goose Island – I spied this nicely set-up BMW 75/5 in the City this evening. Black on black. The Teutonic lines of the bicep cylinder’d motor look mean under the streetlight.

Brit Bikes in Porter Indiana – 7.30am start for a terrific outing around the bottom of Lake Michigan, through Gary and the Dune shoreline to Three Oaks MI. Roads for the most part were quite low trafficked, apart from LSD at the last lap of the return leg!

Midweek Musings – September is the cusp of seasonal change when the balance of the summer heat begins to give way to a cooler autumn. Green abounds, hints of golden or red leaves, clear skies of fresh air. Enjoying rides during this time with a good running Triumph feeds the soul like an elixir.

Pacific Time – the highway that skirts the coastline of California is, in my opinion, one of the greatest roads I’ve been on. Here’s a old sixties photo of some guys hanging out at Point Dume near Malibu. Better than Instagram. That’s a 1969 Ford LTD they’re leaning against.

Balmy evening – another cracking run on a late summer night through the leafy suburbs of the affluent North Shore. Quiet roads with none of the sluggish day or weekend traffic. An odd maple tree is turning color.
