-The Tiger looks quite at home under the leafy canopy of a tree’d lane. A clear understory offers near distance glimpses into the bower of a stand of oak trees. The sunlit glad ahead provides a beckoning destination.

To close the week off in a high point we took the bikes or a circle of the North Shore. Woodsmoke wafted across tree lined suburban backroads and cooling air refreshed a work worn mind. First time I’ve had the new Tiger out at night. Lights work great!

Route 66
We had a full day ride looping mid-north Illinois. Heading down old Highway Sixty Six from where it springs at Lake Shore Drive it runs parallel to Interstate 55 through small grain fed towns. A stretch between Dwight and Bloomington has a vestige of one of the southbound lanes alongside the road. The telegraph poles still line the grass cracked asphalt.

Back Roads
– A winding route up through Lake County saw our wheels rolling along this narrow gravelly lane through shoulder-high corn crops, blanketing soy bean fields , horse pastures, and arching oak trees. Away from the City’s hustle and bustle; at least for a morning.

– the return leg of Saturday’s ride brought us back along the delightful Gilmer Road. A leafy road that winds through Lake Country passing horse farms and old railway lines; passes barns and crosses multiple county roads ready to explore.

Another video of yesterday’s smashing ride in America’s Dairyland. You’ll see the flooding left over from last weeks heavy rains.

On the buses
– zooming along the Interstate racing a Greyhound Bus on a Triumph.

– in this day and age when viral infection can occur through the air between us here’s a photo of a Tiger under full chat zooming through the Dales on a single lane road over the moors. I can hear the theme tune for All Creatures Great and Small when I look at this.

Highway 39 | South West Wisconsin- the rolling green countryside and swooping roads that meander amongst gently hilly farm and wood land. *mental note: must come back on motorcycle

Sepia | evocative photograph of decked out leather boy on his cafe’d Triumph. Low summer sun stretches hedgerow shadows across the road. Scarf across the mouth to keep the flies out.

Tiger Trail | the days riding around north east Illinois was enlightening. A good 150 miles of rural gravel roads crisscrossing Jo Daviess County. I learned to finally use the back brake on the loose surface; and to power through the looser gravel. The new tires performed exceptionally. The day (and weekend) were cut short… but we’ll get into that tomorrow…
A Speed Twin called Daisy and her exploits in the Highlands.
“There is no such uncertainty as a sure thing.”

Burns Night – in celebration of The Bard here are some fun photos taken by a Triumph owner back in 2002 as he rode his Amaranth Red hub sprung Triumph through the lochs and glens of Scotland. As they romp through Glencoe they stop at the layby near it’s summit where they ask the piper to pose with Daisy.

Pitmatic – a motorcycle shop in the fifties on Station Road in the North East mining village of Ashington. Proper Geordie Bikers!

Hump Day – immaculate Triumph Scrambler parked on the gravel shoulder of a curvy road: ready to take on hilly highways. It serves as a midweek respite as we head downslope to the weekend.
