I finally said farewell to my old road bike today. It had been gathering dust in the basement and I reckon someone else should get some use out of it. All built up from parts off EBay, scavenged in bins at cycle shops, and sales of components. The unnamed steel frame was given an orange powedercoat coloring to enliven the look and a smorgasbord of older Shimano components gave life to pedal powered conveyance.

Ten Years
– as GeordieBiker nears its 10 years I’ve been looking into a way of memorializing the over 3,300 posts that have accumulated over its lifetime. I had a PDF document prepared which contains all 1,707 pages of blog posts (to date). It’s nice to skim through and reminisce on past rides, or musings, or image finds.
Two of Us
– we recreated the classic photo of designers Charles and Ray Eames a while back. All I needed was a pipe to complete the look.
– the return leg of Saturday’s ride brought us back along the delightful Gilmer Road. A leafy road that winds through Lake Country passing horse farms and old railway lines; passes barns and crosses multiple county roads ready to explore.

– one of our stops for a leg stretch was at this abandoned crossroads building. You can imagine hoarded of Harley Davidson bickered swarming around at this corner on a Sunday morning before roaring around the backroads then heading back to Milwaukee after a spin around the Moraine’s.
– stopping off near the rolling hills of the Kettle Moraine area of south east Wisconsin. Quiet roads through the idyllic rural dairyland. Old barns, oak woodland and small hamlets scatter through the patchwork countryside formed from the rocky remnants of a continent-wide glacial retreat.
A waning week finally meets its dusk. The morning will bring Saturday and we anticipate perfect June weather.

.. wish I was on a gravel road through the Rockies with the occasional arboreal vista across blue layered slopes.

In the late eighties comics evolved from pen and ink drawing to full blown painted illustration blowing the mind of impressionable readers. One of the greats at this effort was British artist Simon Bisley who transformed: the ABC Warriors; Slaine with his Hornéd God series; Dredd & Batman graphic novel; Lobo; and this one from 1992’s Dredd Megazine. a combination of fantasy artist Frank Frazetta; secessionists Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele; and Marvel Comic artist Bill Sienkiewicz.
We took the Triumph out for a sunset jaunt into Lake County. Long shadows across green fields and through leafy woodlands. This was one of the small gravel country roads that can be found off Hunt Club Road.
