The Women’s Royal Naval Service was the women’s branch of the Royal Navy. Affectionately called Wrens they provided an essential supportive role during wartime and peacetime. They rode motorcycles as couriers and messengers such as this BSA M20.

– old photo of an AA patrolman maneuvering their recovery combination through some snow drifts. Heavy insulated overalls to keep the cold at bay. My grandfather George Lawrie would have been clad as such whilst plying the roads of North Northumberland.

– here’s something that will keep me out of trouble for a few rainy afternoons. A 1/9 scale WW2 era Triumph 3HW. The ubiquitous single cylinder workhorse of the British forces. Indeed it is the motorcycle used by my grandfather George in his duties as a Military Policeman in the North African theatre.

My new project arrived in the mail today. A plastic model kit of a 1943 wartime Triumph. After assembly I’ll need to decide if it’ll be in a clean fresh from the factory look or well ridden appearance.

Arid Adventure

The sailor-man needs landlubbers transportation so, as depicted with this cast iron tot, he’ll use a moto’sickle.

Portable Forge
The blacksmith was history’s mechanic and tire shop. They shod horses, fabricated machinery and repaired tools. Best boot forward on this long legged cycle as it hoofs along a green verged highway under blue skies. Enjoy your weekend folks!

Gulliver holds a diminutive Honda C90 possibly used by one of the diminutive denizens of the scaled down island from his Travels. Unless it was his ride when amongst the giants of Brobdingnag…

As we jump past midweek here’s a bright yellow Kawasaki GPZ900 in cigarette livery. This tobacco company has traditionally been a sponsor of motorsports.

Well detailed model Triumph bobber. Propped next to a fifty five gallon oil drum.

When we were scooting through Racine County WI at the weekend the price of gas dropped to $1.48 per gallon. That’s the lowest I’ve seen it for over twenty years.
