Fly Tipping Forbidden

Summer weather continues unabated as we head  into September. Sultry nineties with a lake borne fresh breeze every now and anon. Can’t take photos as I ride along with my newer phone (yet!). So the bike in a shady ‘lot in Highland Park will have to do.

I’ve discovered a nice quiet route through Lake County horse country with a few more corners, rolling fields, well rolling for Illinois, and woodland bordering the way with the odd promise of fall color. Yes the year is waning.

  1. I keep thinking to myself.. that old bike looks dead fit.. and a GREAT colour [color.?].
It is a OIF model.. yes.? Have you owned the earlier more traditional Bonnie, [pre 71] and can you say how they compare.
A big thing for big lads like us.. is finding comfort. So many amazing bikes I’ve even just sat on, I know before they ever fire up that I would be miserable on them. Most modern bikes, even modest performers, have rear-sets to some degree. Compare any modern bike to the sit-up-and-beg of the bikes of your Bonnie’s era.. even tho’ yours has dropped bars.
On which subject I’ve often wondered.. they don’t look like any Ace bars I recognise.. are they standard bars turned over[and thereby reversed] to get a dropped effect..? Whatever, they look really comfortable for the taller chap.. but do please tell.
As to 90 degrees.. what a bloody cheek telling that one.. and balmy late summer days sliding into fall.! Hmmmmm..
Yesterday [Sat’] here was desperate, dry but with a wind straight off the fells in berluddy Siberia. It WAS starvation and we WERE chittered.. ! .Now that should take you straight back to home times.
    Regards
