  1. R.I.P. Lemmy – We lived in Windsor Road in Ealing, West London from ’82 to ’85 and a 3 storey Victorian terrace a few doors up the street toward Ealing’s town centre had MOTORHEAD painted right across its facade. Stupidly I never took a pic like I did of the large amount of ’70s and ’80s wall murals and graffiti art around London. Had a look on Google some time ago and no trace of it there now.

  2. Hey, belay my last comment…! Must have been looking at the wrong house last time, or had too many beers beforehand 🙂 Amazingly the MOTORHEAD graffiti is STILL THERE across the front of 7 Windsor Road, Ealing W5….faint but hey it’s lasted some 40 years..:-) Go to Google Maps here to take a look: https://www.google.co.nz/maps/@51.5134611,-0.300765,3a,90y,70.89h,90.63t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sowvXBpDUsCpseQp7yo3LpA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Cheers, Les

  3. Ahem..
Sadly, this is a bit more sober. The BBC here has reported this morning that poor Lemmy was diagnosed with a terminal cancer on Boxing Day, December 26th, and died suddenly on the 28th.!
Apparently, he was found sitting in front of his favourite tv games console.
Way to go.. especially if you have something that nasty and unpleasant.

  4. Hey GB. Yep, I had 11 years in London, last 6 with the Kiwi (now wife of 27 years) who lured me back here to NZ. My first flat with my Aussie hometown mate was in West Norwood (where Adele comes from if you’re into current Brit music) so Brixton Tube Stn was our usual to get into town. Mate went home after 18 months but I’d already hooked up and moved in with a Brit lass which resulted in then living all over London (Earls Court; then West Norwood (S); Wembley (NW); then Acton; Hammersmith & 3 flats in Ealing (W). Loved the place and amazingly although it’s changed, still grabs me every time we go back. Cheers, Les

    • I was there from ’96-’98. Worked on the aisle of Dogs. Commuted by bicycle and motorcycle through Greenwich and over a Tower Bridge respectively. I learned to ride motorcycles at the Crystal Palace site and around Sidcup.

  5. Hi Geordie.

Crystal Palace brings back memories too……my mate and I adopted the FA Club as our own… 🙂 Did you know there was an early car (and motorbike) racing circuit in Crystal Palace Park? See http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/10/temple-of-speed-crystal-palace/ for more.

    Cheers, Les
