More Skateboarding! Hugh ‘Bod’ Boyle is an Englishman relocated to SoCal to take on the boys of Dogtown and went and done good. He made good boards which can go for upward of $1,000 such as this mint Triumph motif deck from 1990.

Last time I tried to have a go at a skateboard was in 1979. I didn’t fare well and didn’t get the hang of it. I’d rather take a skoot on the Bonneville…

Ok, so I bit the bullet and opened up the engine. Trying to accomplish this without the guts spilling out. Well the cam pinion gears were synchronized at top dead center, and the valves are now snug with a smidgen of clearance, well ten thou clearance. I could use a fresh splined gear lever spindle…

Mint Julep – bourbon headed beauty zooming across some foothill highway upon a sweet looking Bonnie.

Classic lines with formal elegance, this a machine to enjoy looking at and, I’m sure, riding.

Richie Cunningham takes Fonzies Moto for a spin in Arnold’s Diner.

Then again through the front door of his parents, Howard & Marion’s, house. Fonz wears his leather jacket over his dressing gown.

Arthur Fonzarelli- aka The Fonz. TV’s Happy Days’ King of Cool, riding into the scene on his Triumph TR5 and collar-up leather jacket. Greasy slick back hair and a fist bump to turn on the jukebox or start a car. 50’s Anericana when is was cool to reminisce during the doldrum 70’s – look up American Graffiti.
Richie Cunningham looks on in his ever bemused attitude.

I need to contemplate tranquility – a zen peace of mind like a content fox. The Cub is taking a major step back. It is decided to take the whole engine out back to the bench and strip it down. Something major isn’t jiving…

Well, I think I may have worked out the reason for the Cub woes: the valve retaining collar was of a type with a high rim which interfered with the rocker arm action. I dug out another type which provides excellent clearance. Top photos show two types. Fitted valves back in all looking tickety boo.

Ice cold coke at a regular stop-off on the North Shore. Nice weather with a fresh breath off the lake and hot sun. A short 50 mile jaunt with plenty of other riders out enjoying the roads.

Not a peep. No bark, non-ignition. Looked at valve timing, ignition set-up; workshop manual settings were followed … And still no chirp. Here it sits in Deans garage with big brother Bonneville sitting nearby.
I took the cylinder head off and perhaps the valve seats have exceeded recess allowance so the rocker arms bind against the valve spring collar perhaps keeping a peep of valve open and hence zero cylinder compression…

Silly Old Moo – cockney mysogynistical racially bigoted homophobic anti-Semite, anti-Catholic, anti-Irish and West Ham supporter Alf Garnett pilots chair bound long suffering wife Else and pillion perched friend Min in this wartime outfit (BSA M20). Voicing an ugly post war psyche of Britain he ranted against all around him. However Else could cut him down with a curt response or withering glare as he spiraled into a tirade.

Former Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl thrashes a mean beat and growls a roaring vocal. Grunge fashion takes on white Johnson Motors t-shirt with a hint of Triumph. Good driving music. Can’t believe the seminal Nevermind album is 25. Sheesh where’d the time go?
