Britains – these were my favorite toys growing up. The perfectly sized and detailed motorcycles from the century old die-cast toy manufacturer. All of my childhood bikes either broke (in my quest for how things were put together), or were lost. These are more recent EBay acquisitions.

Utah – The Kirmington Kid adds a pinch of salt to his deeds of speedy derring do. He’s piloting a 1000bhp twin Rocket 3 engined sliver of a motorcycle across the famous Bonneville flats to get the streamlined two-wheeled record. Working up to a velocity north of the current 376mph record he took the carbon fiber sheathed cycle to 274mph in testing this week. A Triumph record!

Headroom – one thing that can be said about motorcycles is they have ample headroom. Here is Enzo (Jean Reno) and his sidekick Roberto who goes up against his free diving competition Jaques Mayol (Jean Marc Barr) in the extraordinary Luc Besson film The Big Blue. The small Fiat acts as transport along the azure horizon Mediterranean.

Sitting up like some sixties supermodel the Bonnie can be as eye catching as an exposure through David Bailey’s Nikon F-2. The engine fins are like Twiggy’s fluttering eyelashes.

The Bonnie looked quite splendid in the sun yesterday. Running quite well and handles the road with aplomb. Mad Dogs & Englishmen ‘n’ all that!
