Buster

Sherlock jr. – Physical actor Buster Keaton can be regarded as one of the most revered actor directors in motion picture. His deadpan expression allowed viewers to read his emotions through pure movement.

The motorcycle is a 1924 Harley Davidson JD.

Solo

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.  – RIP Robert Vaughn (1932-2016) Last of the Seven. Many know him as Agent Napoleon Solo, others as Lee from John Sturges’ classic remake of The Seven Samurai. I like him as slimy politician Chalmers opposite Steve McQueens film Bullitt. [Frank Bullitt to Chalmers] “You believe what you want. Look, you work your side of the street, and I’ll work mine.”

Suzanne – RIP Leonard Cohen (1934-2016)

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river

You can hear the boats go by, you can spend the night forever

And you know that she’s half-crazy but that’s why you want to be there

And she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China

And just when you mean to tell her that you have no love to give her

Then he gets you on her wavelength

And she lets the river answer that you’ve always been her lover

And you want to travel with her, and you want to travel blind

And you know that she will trust you

For you’ve touched her perfect body with your mind

And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water

And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower

And when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him

He said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them

But he himself was broken, long before the sky would open

Forsaken, almost human, he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone

And you want to travel with him, and you want to travel blind

And you think you maybe you’ll trust him

For he’s touched your perfect body with her mind

Now, Suzanne takes your hand and she leads you to the river

She’s wearing rags and feathers from Salvation Army counters

And the sun pours down like honey on our lady of the harbor

And she shows you where to look among the garbage and the flowers

There are heroes in the seaweed, there are children in the morning

They are leaning out for love and they wil lean that way forever

While Suzanne holds her mirror

And you want to travel with her, and you want to travel blind

And you know that you can trust her

For she’s touched your perfect body with her mind

Mail Order

Stamp – we need to mail ourselves out of this potential mess. An unknown future lays ahead which could set the world into un chartered territory.

It’s the end of the world as we know it!

It’s all looking a bit scary out there…

Bantamweight

Ickle Motosickle – Small Heath cuteness. One seven five cee cee’s. Everything was in miniature on it, the speedo was like a wristwatch. It would make a good city runabout for one of smaller stature. My six five would be too comic. The two-stroke needs pre-mix using the tank cap instructions. There are rumors of close to half a million of these built and distributed to all corners of the globe. This is a nifty survivor.

Morries Place

Tanks a Lot – one of the reasons for scooting about the boonies beyond Chicagoland yesterday was to stop in to see Ed Zender at Morries Place in Ringwood. I enjoy just looking around the place; always interesting British esoterica on hand to ogle. Some of the classic details are just marvellous to peruse: the sunny orange and chrome Victor tank; worn out pinstriping over a sky blue AJS tank; mid century orange scheme on the chrome framed Rickman; and the jewel-like ruby starburst badge on a Lightning. Better than an art gallery for me….

Everett Road

Before the Clocks go back – Super November 5th weather and a cracking ride out to McHenry County. Nice roads up there with long curves bounded by the coloring trees. The new upright bars are a treat to ride with; good neutral feel with less back strain.

The Girl with the Pearl Earring

Suspenders & Pigtails – Friday’s lass is ready for a countryside cavort. Throttle hand at the ready, eyes waiting for the hare ‘n’ hound race to be commenced. The flat cap might blow off on the first corner mind you!

Steerage

High Bar – the Bonnie has new ‘andles. I’ve installed braced enduro bars giving an upright, yet still forward, stance. Some fanagling of controls was needed, and I’ll have to lose the tachometer. Heck: we’re getting it set up like Daryl Dixons moto!

Barbara Gordon

BatGirl! The Gal Wonder zips through the dark crime riddled streets of Gotham on her BatBike. Early Detective Comics had her zooming ahead of the Dynamic Duo as the distinctive Bat Signal is shone skyward by her father, Commissioner Gordon. POW BAM
