Puppy Life!

Paper Dart Avian | the Thunderbird name logo used by Triumph since the fifties was devised by Edward Turner whilst traveling between the UK and the Marques operations in the States.

He’s Spartacus! One of the legends from the golden age of movies, Kirk Douglas, died today at the grand age of 103. His memorable roles were always played with gusto and energy. My favorite film of his growing up was The Vikings.

Filming the Impossible | back in the day trying to capture the thrills of the road one had to mount considerable weighty cameras to yer bounce. Here’s Graham Hill and Steve McQueen loaded up with the old analogue contraptions that ran old school film stock. Now we have miniature lightweight high definition cameras to accomplish this. So I bought myself a new toy…

Born to be Wild | Keyboardist of Californian band Steppenwolf Goldie McJohn sits on a BSA Rocket 3 whilst American Recording Studio producer Richie Polodor looks on from his Jeep. Polodor was producer for Three Dog Night who had hits such as a #1 cover of Eric Burden’s Mama told me (not to come).

Groundhog Day | temperatures reached the low fifties today with a blue sky overhead. Even though there were patches of snow around it was decided to take the Tiger out for a ride nonetheless . The roads were particularly quiet and a good breakfast was eaten at Emily’s Diner in Zion.

Nice Legs, Shame about the Face! Engineering prowess displayed on an outside shin next to its inspiration. If you held the bare leg against the hot engine it would brand the iconic ‘gin onto the inside shin…

Though it were ten thousand mile | Accomplished tattoo artist Tracey Rose loves her Triumph Bonneville. Her ink work is a mixture of sublime color work and exemplary black line with grey shading work. Go to her shop to see examples of her artistry.

The Great Pretender | “Let’s talk with Pete Farndon. When he’s not playing his electric bass, you can probably find him on his bike.”
Bassist from the original line up of the English American rock group The Pretenders Pete lived life in the fast lane on his Trident.

Amusement Ride | more excitement and fun from the further escapades of the Harry Potter world. This time a roller coaster utilizing Hagrid’s Triumph sidecar outfit as the carriages. As we know I’m sure it’s not as good as the real thing…

Monster Truck | A couple of years ago Triumph USA toured their adventure bike Tiger models across the country using this heavy brute of a vehicle. Called the Atlak it drove from Atlanta to Alaska and parts between.

Wall Art | this would make a nice graphic for a cool warehouse apartment wall. High ceilings and brickwork with concrete floors. Indeed you could probably roll the Bonnie into the flat up on the freight elevator..

Old Sketch | probably doodled in the early eighties. I dug our this dirt bike drawing from a pile of papers I brought back from the UK on our last trip. I think I copied out of the Radio Times for the programme listing of Kick Start which I used to love watching.

Blowing Bubbles | awesome sketch by Elsa Chang of some lass laying back sending soap bubbles into the sky. The grey wash with brushed ink work is fluid and inspired.

Luftballon | not ninety nine… just the one. The bobber ‘cycle rider is adrift with the escapism one experiences when cruising along. Fun artwork from Douglas Thompson who captures the gravity defying nature of motorcycling.
