– I’ve started following the Instagram page of a young German RTW biker Martin Klauka who, four years ago, was joined by a tuxedo colored cat he named Mogli. He celebrates her birthday on January 29th (today) and has so far travelled from Europe through the Middle East to India.
– The Tiger was fitted with some new farkles to improve a couple of items for road awareness and navigation. One was a bar mount just above the information screen allowing my GPS to be affixed more centrally in my field of vision for clearer navigation. The other was a pair of indestructible rear-view mirrors affixed with sturdy Ram mounts. These are promoted by adventure tourists and off-road gurus as the most versatile units.
– a Sunny sky with lowest sun and brisk temperatures saw the Tiger and I going for a quick spin around familiar roads. The heated vest and handgrips were very welcome. New iPhone camera being utilized too!
Late November before the forecast snow flies and I take the Kit out for a speedy 50 miler. the 2 mile stretch past this Lake Bluff destination just before you reach the Great Lakes Naval Station is a nice run past open fields and wooded copses.
– here’s some adventurer scooting along the truckers route between Fairbanks and Prudhoe Bay. Also known as The Dalton Highway. I’d love to take the Big Kitteh along this road.
– Today saw the launching of a base model 900 Tiger. More road-centric than the Rally model it’s aimed at the city commuters and Highway or A road tourists. Diablo Red or Caspian Blue are the color options.
– with November temperatures in the upper sixties a smashing couple of hundred mile loop was undertaken over in DuKalb and McHenry counties. Rolling farmland along old Midwestern routes such as “Plank Road” and “”Lincoln Highway”. Red barns is various degrees of decrepitude sprinkled the rural scene. Oh, and Trump lost reelection- all in all a pretty pretty pretty good day.
– the new reinforced hand-guards are now affixed to the Tiger. Australian made Barkbusters have a hefty aluminum strap across the knuckles. Still good wind breaking shields too.
– halfway along Fairfield Road a little north of Volo sits this ragged red clapped barn. I’ve passed by it numerous times so decided to stop today and memorialize its presence on the Lake County outings.
