– I enjoyed the company of this gold colored Buick LeSabre down Lake Shore Drive this morning. Or to give the Highway it’s full new name Jean Baptiste Point DuSable LSD.

We took an inner city tour of Chicago today riding the 100 year old tree lined historic Boulevard system. From Jackson and Washington Park in the south; along Garfield and Western; past Sherman, Gage and McKinley Park; through Douglas, Garfield and Humboldt Parks; then through Logan Square, it offers a great cross section through Chicago. The gilt Statue of the Republic, located in Jackson Park, erected in 1918, is a golden reminder of the 1893 World’s Colombian Exposition.

– my journey home from work this week has included a couple of evening diversions along the shopping district of Michigan Avenue. The canyon of skyscrapers includes the tapering behemoth of John Hancock and the warm stone spire of the Water Tower.

– though it’s hot in slow traffic, it’s been great to be hauling down lake Shore Drive to work this week. A bit of snarled traffic near Grant Park where Lollapalooza is being set up.

– two-wheel commuting today. A minor detour around The Loop following the River to Michigan Avenue. A canyon of architecture.

– planning on some summer commuting mikes so I need to park the Tiger in our small yard. Locked to the house wall and covered.

– cruising down Chicago’s lakefront from Hollywood to the Gold Coast. This is my new commute.

– a hot day pushed today’s ride into the evening when cooler temperatures would give more comfortable conditions.

– the new Triumph Trident has arrived in Chicago and have already sold out at Motoworks. I haven’t seen one in person yet, but will no doubt see one darting around the urban environment.

– another couple of images from yesterday’s trip. Following the tracks gets interrupted by the occasional train. Either a freight or the South Shore Line.

– clear and cool air followed us along the shore to Michigan. Fairly quiet roads through Lansing, Gary, New Buffalo. Brunch of pancakes, eggs ‘n’ sausage washed down with delicious coffee at Three Oaks.

– spotted in the parking garage at work. A nice British Racing Green Thruxton. Smart!

Kustom Skooter
– spied on Halsted near work. Big guy on low custom scooter. Not your usual Lambretta!

– a splendid ride to the Wisconsin State Line in unseasonably warm weather on this Easter Sunday. Clear skies with temperatures in the upper sixties had us ride through the budding trees and scrub lacing Lake County’s gentle landscape. The occasional whiff of scorched vegetation from controlled prairie burning drifted across the roadway. Overhead buzzards circled across the scrubby farm fields. The oil change carried out the day before had the smooth triple engine running extra silky.
