This year’s Motoblot event had plenty to look at. From older model cars and bikes to newer models being featured by dealers. Weather was hot as usual and the rockabilly music loud as an unmuffled engine. There was an ‘85 Kawasaki Ninja parked up too. Nice to see it!
Proud youth with his ape hung, hardtailed rear, extended forked, bicycle headlighted Triumph Tiger Cub. The wooded setting sets off the red paintwork superbly. As George Hanson said whilst imbibing on a Jim Beam quart bottle “Here’s the first of the day, fellas! To old D. H. Lawrence.” The whilst flapping one arm like a chicken: “Neh! Neh! Neh! Fuh! Fuh! Fuh! Indians.”
Long legged Triumph chopper lets a Seventies couple enjoy the fresh air of the open road. The S reg 245 Volvo estate in the garage dates this after ‘77. Good photo for the album!
Here I am back as a youth with my first big bike. A chopper with high bars, long seat and five speeds. I found an old advert of a Chessington which bears a close resemblance to my wheels. There was a big Kawasaki K sticker on the down tube.
This years biker gathering in the old meat packing district saw upper 80’s temperatures but a good crowd of folk out to listen to some rockabilly, look at some cool motorcycles and cars, drink some locally brewed ale, and chow of burgers. A good way to spend a summer Saturday afternoon in Chicago.
Hardtail chopper using a pre-unit Triumph motor is photographed like a prized possession. Bikini clad model says its two-wheeled summer fun ahead. Weather is improving here in the Midwest and a Sunday ride is planned. Pina Colada anyone?
Gotta love the early 20th Century imagination of where things will go as an inspired future beckoned. Art Deco form with streamlining lines. We were promised the future: we’ll, here we are? Where are our flying cars, excess relaxation time, less stress. I think we took a wrong turn somewhere!
The poster for this years biker and band gathering in Chicago. A couple of streets in the Fulton Market district closed down for a long weekend for open air noise with Mods and Rockers. Something to look forward to! Be there or be square!
The Walking Dead cover art featuring one of the main protagonists of the TV series with his first ride. A choppered Triumph. Crossbow mounted to the steering head ready for zombie huntin’
– given a chopper treatment. Sissy bar, hard tail, banana seat, peanut tank, through pipes, ape hangers. Make sure your decked out with: your headband, a poncho, tie-dyed shirt, frayed bell-bottomed jeans, moccasins. Peace Love and Understanding!
