Hair: Birds-eye view of a Triumph Thruxton and its lucky owner. Some motorcycles sure do have a good shape when viewed from this angle.

Beyond the Pale: head-on portrait of a black & tan clad cailín astride a speed-striped Triumph Thruxton. Serious pout under a shade visored helmet. It’s reminiscent of a pint of Guinness; which just so happens to be appropriate as we’re flying to Dublin for the weekend. Then onward to Geordieland to see the folks.

Nippon Cafe – leathers, boots and a goggled lid look perfect on this stern owner of a Thruxton. The framing of this monochrome image is perfectly balanced with the overpass backdrop. A plum portrait.

Cardigan & Loafers – off the showroom floor and into the desert. Here’s a sweet couple looking set for a two-up jaunt. They seem to be college types. The Bonneville is a T120R Speedmaster. The center stand return spring is in need of attention…

Gilda – actress, dancer and wartime pin-up Rita Hayworth would have been 99 today. 40’s femme fatale she headlined many of the top films of the day. This is such a happy photo of her on a spanking new Triumph Speed Twin.

Autumnal Sepia – as we cool off and experience the occasional drizzle we must bring out the colder weather gear. The leggings might be a tad underwhelming but a stout wax jacket, scarf and ‘meant’ boots are de rigeur. The Tiger ain’t that bad either.

Entertainment for Men – Playboy was first published 63 years ago here in Chicago by bon vivant Hugh Hefter, who died yesterday aged 91. It promoted a sophisticated male lifestyle with writing, art, fashion, and a Playmate of the month who adorned the cover as well as centerfold.

Lady Stardust-
People stared at the makeup on his face
Laughed at his long black hair, his animal grace
The boy in the bright blue jeans
Jumped up on the stage
And lady stardust sang his songs
Of darkness and disgrace
And he was alright, the band was altogether
Yes he was alright, the song went on forever
And he was awful nice
Really quite out of sight
And he sang all night long
Femme fatales emerged from shadows
To watch this creature fair
Boys stood upon their chairs
To make their point of view
I smiled sadly for a love
I could not obey
Lady stardust sang his songs
Of darkness and dismay

When is a Triumph not a Triumph? When it’s a Kawasaki KZ400… some youth punk has blacked-out his little twin; draped an old anorak over the back as a saddle; and daubed the Triumph logo across its tank in red, the modern Hinckley logo mind you! Like some Lisbeth Salander (she with the Dragon Tattoo) heap- it’s both goth and grunge.

Need a Light? Urban roadster gal with Big Apple attitude looks ready to take on the Upper East Side with a new vintage Bonneville in black ‘n’ grey. Ripped stockings, pearly Chuck Taylor’s and a Spade badged lid complete the Biker chick look.
