Back Home – we finished our road trip with a couple of stops in mid Ohio then a zoom back west to Chicago. Picked the dog up from his carer then home to the talkative cat. Plenty of fun Americana seen on the venture. It’s a big country and so much to see across its wide miles. We weren’t as adventurous as this Norton powered couple; but that looks like one of the many scenes we saw on our travels.

Blood of Life – this gorgeous lively Norton Commando turned up on the ever fruitful interweb. It’s a smasher! Enough suitable upgrades to make it a very useable tool on today’s roads.

Norton – My earliest memories of motorcycles was seeing these big beautiful machines roaring around the roads. The golden bagde quiff’d across the ebony tank and the perfectly balanced assemblage of parts are burned in my mind as the ideal motorcycle.

Man’s Best Friend – a nifty rig for a modern Norton with leaning capabilities this owner is enjoying the company of his hound on road-bound outings. These rideable combinations from Schwenker allow the true motorcycle experience that normal rigidly mounted rigs can’t achieve. Doggles let pooch alllow the “wind to blow through his feathers”.

L❤️VE IS – gazing adoringly at the sublime lines of classic British motorcycle engines. They are the pulsing heart of these machines; the very cardiac cycle of an industries history. These examples were beautiful examples of their marque on display at the motorcycle show.

The better part of valour is, discretion. -Falstaff (Henry IV part 1) Today we celebrate the birthday of of of the greats of Shakespearean theatre as well as movies. Ralph Richardson 1902-1983 who, as well as adding unparalleled perfection to the parts he played was also a motorcycle enthusiast. He would be seen haring around London on the powerful bikes of the day. Here seen aboard BMW’s and a Norton.

AutoCAD – someone adept at the ubiquitous vector graphic drafting program created a clean side view of a featherbed framed Triton. Triton was Poseidon’s son – per yesterday’s post with his Trident.

Norton – fine illustration by Jamie Hewlett, he of Tank Girl and Gorillaz, of a surly lass on a heavy duty Donny Park beast. Lithe lass with beefy tank and beefier wheels.
Don’t mess with this one!

Clint Eastwood: The Man with No Name. I’m watching one of my favorite spaghetti westerns: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Only horses and gunfights in that, so here is Blondie on another ride. This is a 750 Norton Commando.

An acquaintance owns the immaculate R75/5 BMW with reflective toaster tank which starts off this round of five European moto’s from Main Street Hebron. Next up in counterclockwise fashion is a John Player liveried Norton Commando, nice looking machine. An orange Commando with a hefty tank looked the part under a bright May sun. BSA Lightning was a replacement for the sublime Rocket Goldstar, this one looked like a frequent rider polished with an oily rag. Last up Moto Guzzi V7, a 700cc transverse v-twin being the Italian contemporary of all of these other bikes. Lovely!

Taking their name after the cult classic Roger Corman 1966 B-Movie starring Peter Fonda this rocker group use the cafe racer as the equivalent to US Hells Angels choppers. This photo line-up has a bevy of BSA’s, Nortons and Triumphs. Clip-ons, quiffs, leathers and attitude. The middle Moto with ape hangers is …?
