Alien – on the return flight home over the Atlantic I watched the latest film in Ridley Scott’s space epic where: “no one can hear you scream.” A small but pivotal character Sir Peter Weyland who funds the Prometheus expedition to the Engineers system. Played by the quietly talented Guy Pearce he is the creator of Android David a critical character that proves to be a key player in the entire Alien series. Here’s a motorcycle sitting portrait of the British born antipodean on a classic Matchless. Photo by Robert Ascroft

Beyond the Pale: head-on portrait of a black & tan clad cailín astride a speed-striped Triumph Thruxton. Serious pout under a shade visored helmet. It’s reminiscent of a pint of Guinness; which just so happens to be appropriate as we’re flying to Dublin for the weekend. Then onward to Geordieland to see the folks.

Kit – simple plastic model of a BSA C15. Grey molding still fresh on the sprue ready for removal and assembly. This looks like a typical 1:32 scale kit. I’d keep it as-is and frame it.

Luminous – here’s a fella enjoying the November roads today. Wrapped in his spacesuit-like Aerostich, white Arai lid and rumbling along Sheridan Road on a rocket red cycle. I was in my car driving from job site to job site…

11-11 we’re up to ninety nine years since the armistice of 1918. The end of The Great War… as well as the horror of the trenches, heavy bombardment of the guns, the first aerial bombardment, some units used early motorcycles, such as this BSA, for despatch duty.

Nippon Cafe – leathers, boots and a goggled lid look perfect on this stern owner of a Thruxton. The framing of this monochrome image is perfectly balanced with the overpass backdrop. A plum portrait.

Bronze in the ‘Burbs – extended forks at the front end of this chopped custom. Peanut tank and thin chesterfield upholstered saddle adorn the shiny engine and stretched frame.

The Wolverine – we watched Logan last night. The final outing of Hugh Jackman as the X-Men clawed heavy. Here is an atmospheric black & white photo of the actor riding a 70’s Bonneville along an empty industrial backdropped highway. A side note: I am one eighth Logan.

Mort – spooky custom in a SoCal style by Don Cates. The hearse-like carriage on this Triumph three wheeler Hansom with extended fork is pure sixties.

Autumnal Sepia – as we cool off and experience the occasional drizzle we must bring out the colder weather gear. The leggings might be a tad underwhelming but a stout wax jacket, scarf and ‘meant’ boots are de rigeur. The Tiger ain’t that bad either.

Normadie. – an image taken during a weekend cycling trip along the north coast of France in ‘97. I spied this couple zooming across the countryside under crisp April skies as I took a break from pedaling the same landscape. “That’s for me!” I said to myself.

Autumn – once the temperatures wane and drizzly overcast day become more common then we’re heading into my favorite time of the year. Nature’s fireworks abound in leaf color; fresh skies; and earthy smells. A bit like this worn out ‘79 T140 Triumph Bonneville. Oil encrusted engine and rusty pipes adorn a barn worn patina where a family of mice may live under the side covers.

Seremos como el Che. One of the most controversial figures of the Twentieth Century Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara was assassinated fifty years ago today in Bolivia. Sometimes hailed as a complete man: doctor and economist, revolutionary and banker, military theoretician and ambassador, deep thinker and political agitator; his revolutionary thoughts and actions were contentious, both hated and revered depending what side of the aisle you sat on.
