As wrote P.G. Wodehouse. I’ll curse as much as I like but she’s a Bonnie bike.

Beautiful sunny early September Sunday afternoon. Had a place to go in Lake Forest so I took the bike… The run out was just perfect: quiet roads, cooling breeze, sunny skies, bike ticking over well. Coming back? Bike didn’t start (at first) and ran a bit rough on the return journey. Thinking it’ll stall at any moment I nursed her home… Battery had good charge, oil level good, but didn’t check the plugs… Hmmm . A new model moto sounds better all the time…. ! Press button to start and go!

After nearly two months laid up in the dark confines of my workplace’s subterranean garage, the bike saw some oily mitts getting some much needed work done. This was to button up the primary cover, setting the pressure plate, reaffixing the rearset which overlaps its rear bolts, and topping oils to enable a smart kick of the starter to roar the engine to life…. “She Lives!”. It was all a four handed task so my friend Dean offered extra paws to arrange bolting.
Test ride tomorrow!

Big Brute of a Bike: heavy wheeled, rude-red framed, and hefty tank’d. As long as the Bonnies engine has been sorted then this mercurial mover would surely be a barrel o’ fun.
Tat this is not!

A found interweb painting of some Triumph rider and his steed. An appearance of emerging from shadow into the sunlight. The feeling one gets when taking off down the road.

A magical note from the twin cylinder when revs rise from a lumpy burble to a high raspy whirr. When the engine is purring and the lanes smooth and clear it’s a beautiful song. A symphony of orchestrated parts moving in unison.

Oil on canvas rendition of the legendary ’69 Triumph Bonneville. Crimson base with silver great swoosh. This 8″x6″ piece is by a painter called Ron Wilson. It has a reflective ‘glint in its eye’.

Nice adjusted set up for a gear change and foot peg for the left side of this Bonneville. Nicely backlit to accentuate the shapely timing cover and gearbox. An hourglass figure?

Norma Jean thinks so!

The weekend is here… An open weekend ‘road’ ahead…
Bike is off the road: repairing the clutch and putting new sump plug/filter in. Waiting for a couple of parts. So I’m busy with house projects…

Glorious painting of an evocative scene by the talented David Uhl. Www.uhlstudios.com mostly this studio paints Harleys but the odd Brit Iron is daubed on the canvas.
Dreary English skies, warmly lit caff where a hot cuppa is supped and chip butties can be had. Bonny Bonnie!

My latest edition of Motorcycle Classics arrived earlier today and what should be on the cover but a Gary Nixon tribute Triumph. Not only that but a seventies Oil-in-Frame T120R set up ad such.

Number 9: baby blue. Lookin’ cool as ice.

It is a build from Union motorcycle workshop in Nampa Idaho http://www.unionmotorcycle.com/index.html . great article about a basket case brought in by a customer wanting a bobber – a little discussion and this roadworthy repli-racer was developed.

Me? I’m sold! Every inch is perfect. The lines, the big race tank, curvy fairing, alloy rim’d wheels, short seat, one up one down exhaust.

It sets you up for, what I believe to be, the perfect riding posture.
I WANT THAT FAIRING!

We’ve had him here before but as today is his 55th birthday we can celebrate with a dour pose cheered up by his beloved Bonneville.
Best know I believe for his role as George in Blackadder 3; amongst many others! He’s not just an ornery Doctor!

A quick degreasing and oily rag polish sees the Bonnie’s engine looking a little more respectable. No it’s not a shiny mirror-like surface but the grimy oil surface was wiped off to a roadworthy patina.
