Pizza Pie

Stunt Jump

– the current advertising campaign for Caesar’s Pizza involves a caped daredevil under a spotlight ready to perform motorcycling derring do. The bike is a Triumph just like Evel Knievel used in ‘67 to jump the fountain at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Extra cheese topping please!

Seventeen Hundred Pages

Ten Years

– as GeordieBiker nears its 10 years I’ve been looking into a way of memorializing the over 3,300 posts that have accumulated over its lifetime. I had a PDF document prepared which contains all 1,707 pages of blog posts (to date). It’s nice to skim through and reminisce on past rides, or musings, or image finds.

Kountry Inn

Gassin’ Up

– stopping off near the rolling hills of the Kettle Moraine area of south east Wisconsin. Quiet roads through the idyllic rural dairyland. Old barns, oak woodland and small hamlets scatter through the patchwork countryside formed from the rocky remnants of a continent-wide glacial retreat.

It’s a small world…

The model is for all intents and purposes complete. Spent the afternoon adding oily and muddy patina to the bike. Looking like it’s just been ridden from the Normandy beaches to the Ardenne.

Blue Sky

Red Barn

Marvelous day on the road today. 250 miles on a route around the bottom of the Lake into Michigan on lanes lined with trees leafing out. Lilac fragrance wafted from farm hedges laden with bloom and rolling fields being watched over by soaring hawks. This old barn was seen in the small town of Eau Claire MI.

Put that in yer pipe

…and smoke it!

Not tobacco my friend; but a fine desert sled with a pair of rumbling exhaust pipes sat like an organs middle C. Pull all the stops out and hear it roar! ‘72 Triumph TR6

Assembly Required

New Project

– here’s something that will keep me out of trouble for a few rainy afternoons. A 1/9 scale WW2 era Triumph 3HW. The ubiquitous single cylinder workhorse of the British forces. Indeed it is the motorcycle used by my grandfather George in his duties as a Military Policeman in the North African theatre.

Weathering

Rust ‘no Polish

My new project arrived in the mail today. A plastic model kit of a 1943 wartime Triumph. After assembly I’ll need to decide if it’ll be in a clean fresh from the factory look or well ridden appearance.

What, what, why..

Delilah!

Brains and Beauty: that could only be actress, inventor and film producer Hedy Lamarr. Here’s a publicity shot for Samson & Delilah with a photoshopped Triumph chopper. Somehow it actually looks the part. Now let’s discuss her paper on Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum and its use to prevent jamming of guided torpedoes…

Africa or Bust…

Dr Livingston I presume?

A pair of intrepid adventurers with their Triumph combination somewhere in Alkebulan (Mother of Mankind) during a 1932 trip across the continent. It’s Frank Flood and Jim C. Wilson who rode from the Nigerian cost to The Red Sea. The original dual sport travelers. Short sleeves and pith helmets.
