Petrol Part

Personalization- gas tank art. From the hand painting of a smiling cat to the sign lettering on a polished cell. The beautifully air brushed custom tank to a decal applied on a dirt bike. The tank is typically the canvas for the owners mark. #Motoblot

Three for Thee

Six Cylinders Three point Six liters- a bevy of Triumphs big parallel twins were spied at the show yesterday. Each 1200cc has its own particular character: from the bespoke Bobber, the sophisticated Bonneville and the speed fed Thruxton. I still think that solver grey faired Thruxton looks the best.

Motoblot 2017

Bikes etc. – the annual gathering of the ‘alternate’ motorcycle scene on Fulton Street was enjoyed with plenty to look at. Here’s a taster in a four panel collage. The Kawasaki KZ was in more-than immaculate condition. A bobbed Triumph in ratty patina had a fun tank badge and leopard motif. A 1912 Indian with oily rag wipe down appearance. And a latter-day Royal Enfield looking the part for twisty secondary roads.  More to come!

Desert Sunset

Air Force One – a sinking sun over the scrubby desert terrain lights up a low slung cafe slouched over by a leopard print legged lass.

Cover Art

Magazine Cover – for a bob you could pick up some good periodical reading material back in the sixties. A 1911 Triumph Model H was vintage even back then… Gordon Little is looking smart in his macintosh and beret. One color as long as it’s blue!

The Wire

Sparks’s White Van – some Canadian electrician has liberated a Triumph logo for his transport. And Gerry Rafferty lyrics as a scripted credo: “Right Down the Line”

Rough Rider

Polychromatic Blue – here’s an off-road sorted ’58 pre-unit Triumph currently for sale on eBay in the U.K. It would make a good tool to haul over the desert like Steve MCQueen was doing in yesterday’s blog. I’m filing this one for a future project…

Red ‘n’ White Chequered

Wednesday Wheelie- we need a bit of Harvey Mushman leaping out of the screen to see us into the latter part of the wee. “Number 14! Give ‘er some wellie!”

Shere Khan

Bengal Tiger on the Prowl – Bollywood actor Salman Khan sits with a marvelously restored Triumph Tiger. He had the bike restored for his father Salim Khan who owned such a model in the late fifties. It would be fun to ride an older motorcycle through rural India.

Sunset Strip

Two by Two – bunch of Moto lassies take to a warm dusky evening on their shiny bikes. A red hot Thruxton takes the lead. Weekend again: so more two-wheeled fun awaits.

Aloft

Air – like some Japanese watercolor from the Edo  Period 江戸時代 this airborne Triumph soars across the tinted page in a blurry motion. Touched by the glisten of a desert sun the lazily brushed lines offer the glimpse of the briefest of moments between the land and the sky. Superb artwork by HAMMeRED.

Leap Week

Midweek Madness – Hump-Day always needs a healthy dose of throttle as well as a whiff of confidence to launch over that Wednesday rise. This bug-eyed lime green Triumph Speed Triple is the perfect vehicle to head skyward and land somewhere in the vicinity of 5.30pm Friday…

Shoot!

Blow Up – another frame from yesterday’s photo-shoot. This time the photographer comes into focus. Like Michaelangelo Antonioni’s masterpiece from the sixties I cropped in closer to see if a murder had taken place…

Nikon ready

Furious Filly – in the grounds of some manor house a glamorous gal shows off her pair of go-go boots. Her pew is the unrealized Triumph Bandit, also known as the BSA Fury, a 350 contender for a mid-sized ton-capable machine planned to go against Honda’s three fifties. Alas, not to be. Though it makes good modeling props…
