Wandering Troubadour – Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature earlier today. “The unwashed phenomenon – The original vagabond” as Joan Baez sang. Of course we know the story of his Triumph Tiger crash in ’66 which allowed him to change direction reflectivly.
Great songwriter with words that can pierce your soul.

Thruxton – of all the delicious motorcycles gathered together on Sunday the tastiest was the be Thruxton. It just looks superb and talking to some owners rides superb too. Someone had a British Racing Green color scheme that was sublime… But I do like the rocket-red one.

Born in the USA – 67 years ago today! New Jerseys voice and son: Bruce Springsteen who gave a pulse to the working mans plight in the Heartland. He’s enjoyed Triumphs since he was teen with a new guitar.

Biker Movie – one of the lesser known Outlaw Motorcycle Gang films from 1969 has a bunch of two-wheeled anarchist take to the highways on British Iron.
The tag line is: “Vicious bikers go on a killing spree in the desert, causing would-be victims to seek grisly revenge.”

Starring Russ Tamblyn better known as Riff leader of the Jets gang from West Side Story. In this vehicle he play leader ‘Anchor’. Violence ensues but bikes across a stark desert landscape add much needed respite.

Hacking Family – cute snapshot of a sidecar driver and his passengers. Twin disc brakes up front help slow proceedings in modern traffic. Hey! I’ve seen a tank like that before! Fun abounds for all!

Pacific Time – the highway that skirts the coastline of California is, in my opinion, one of the greatest roads I’ve been on. Here’s a old sixties photo of some guys hanging out at Point Dume near Malibu. Better than Instagram. That’s a 1969 Ford LTD they’re leaning against.

Intrigue – I would really like to ride one of these stretch fork’d, low saddl’d, ape bar’d, red, red, red bobber chopper. Probably very particular in corners and surly over potholes but with a tightened belt, and steady throttle grip. It’s called Hard Knox
Yeehaar!

La Seine –
Sur le pont des arts
Mon cœur vacille
Entre deux eaux
L’air est si bon
Cet air si pur
Je le respire
Nos reflets perchés
Sur ce pont
Upon the bridge
My heart does beat
Between the waves
We will be saved
The air we breathe
Can you believe?
Learn to forgive upon the bridge.

AutoCAD – someone adept at the ubiquitous vector graphic drafting program created a clean side view of a featherbed framed Triton. Triton was Poseidon’s son – per yesterday’s post with his Trident.

Poseidon’s Pitchfork – or The Trident. A triple lunged lout from the seventies. It saw good form on the track both in Meriden and Small Heath BSA trim; look up Slippery Sam. Aearly superbike so to speak. This example is for sale locally, the owner asking $4,500. I’d like to give one of these a go.

My buddy Dean saw this sales card in a Sears store where the automotive tools were. Craftsman ratchet and spark plug socket being put to good use on a bobber Triumph. The image is used in a number of advertising guises.

Blow your own Trumpet – an illustrators version of some internal combustion instrument. Taking the exhaust via sissy-bar piping to a flute-like horn. Kiwi artist is Kelvin Mann who creates a kind of Heath Robinson quirk.
