Parked on a side street in the historical district of Los Angeles. Motorcycles are certainly a much used type of transportation here on the west coast. In the typical SoCal traffic they are the best thing to get about on!

Temperatures in the upper fifties and blue sky. So a run up along the Lake was called for. It would certainly have been rude not to. Pumpkin spice latte and chocolate chip cookie at a coffee shop in Lake Bluff gave the destination a purpose.
Spied on Chicago Avenue this evening. A solid machine being enjoyed on a balmy November evening. It had a pleasant throaty rumble. Nike basketball boots are period perfect too!
The Tigers battery was flat (I’d left the GPS plugged in from a couple of weeks ago) so I decided to take the Bonnie out for a wee spin. Bit lumpy to start with – old fuel- but she I was able to open ‘er up a bit. An electrical short in north Evanston saw me head back to the garage. But a good few mile run after sitting for a few years. Winter maintenance is on the cards.
– I should find something to get my idle hands onto. A Vincent or Norton looking for a warm workshop. Recovery through Restoration. Apologies for the lack of posts, a few personal issues arose these past few weeks. Hope to get a few things shifting on the Blog soon.
This bridge is one of four rare Scherzer rolling lift bascule bridges in Joliet that cross the Des Plaines river. Once a thriving transporation hub, this crossing built in 1933 would lift to allow the barge traffic from the nearby Sanitary and Ship Canal through. Carrying both industrial products and raw materials it was arterial in Chicagos economic success up until the 70’s.
Marvelous autumnal ride to a State Park south of the City. A good 200+ miler through cityscapes, rolling cornfields, and coloring woods. Old bascule bridges and the penitentiary in Joliet, hawks aloft over the River bluffs. Splendid!
