The cover of his 1969 album, featuring some great road-trip music, has an open fronted frilly fuchsia colored shirt-wearing Arlo on his Triumph Trophy. Stealin’ is a great number, as is Comin’ into Los Angeles. Other personnel on the record include Byrd men Clarence White and Gene Parsons, as well as slide guitar maestro Ry Cooder.

Currently showing on Netflix is Wednesday. A version of the creepy family from the perspective of the teenage daughter in the titular role. Jenna Ortega plays the role in perfect razor sharp somber mood. Uncle Fester has an appearance too. Here Fester and Wednesday hare around on a BMW rig – Fred Armisen as the bald relative.

My earliest football memory is watching the great Brazilian player Pelé fly gracefully across a pitch and seem to magically transform the ball into a floating orb. He was a champion for the sport and a global ambassador for sportsmanship. I found a couple of magazine advertisements in Portuguese for a Honda 125, which I’m sure was sold by the stadium load in that country. Soichiro Honda is seen with Pelé in the center image. Brazil became a major manufacturing location for the smaller Hondas.

– I should find something to get my idle hands onto. A Vincent or Norton looking for a warm workshop. Recovery through Restoration. Apologies for the lack of posts, a few personal issues arose these past few weeks. Hope to get a few things shifting on the Blog soon.

– Cass Elliot taking on a sixties vibe with a racing green ‘68 Norton Commando. She was the voice of a generation as the youth enjoyed free love and a soundtrack to match.

Volkswagen’s response to the US Jeep and UK’s Land Rover was this lightweight version. The Type 181 is the military version of its 2WD lineup.

This evening’s Dick Van Dyke show was the episode when Rob Petrie brings home a motorcycle. Laura isn’t too happy; but he puts on the leather jacket given to him from Buddy and Sally and heads out onto the road. Sixties sitcom hilarity ensues.

The bike used was a 50cc step through cycle based on many a European scooter of the day.

A visit to the premier classic British motorcycle shop in northern Illiniois was also included in the agenda. Always a treat to look over the various items parked shoulder to shoulder in the main display area. The workshop was so busy that bikes awaiting service and restoration work were stood outside.

– graphic image on the wall in one of the bedrooms at a MidCentury home we stayed at this week. Colorful and swift.

He would have been 86 today. Sadly we lost him when he was just 32.

– actress Anna Karen, known for her role in late 60’s sitcom On The Buses, passed away aged 85. Thick glasses, unattractive wig and extra padding gave her a dowdy look in her frustrated marriage to Arthur.
