Pout – a doll posing her looks with the elegant complementary lines of a hard-tail bobbed Triumph modeling prop.

Red Rogue – Mango Tango is the color of this tank. Nice compliment to the blacked out bobber bike. Classic lines of a hardtail in a clean execution.

Heeey! When you want to play it cool nobody does it better than The Fonz (Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli) played by Henry Winkler. His bobbed Triumph TR5 became as iconic as his hair-do and thumbs.

Biker Memorobilia – leather jacket, old lid, tasseled shirt and vintage photographs of a bygone motorcycling scene. We’re in Pittsburgh today so the Prowlers jacket seems appropriate…

Brown Rat – the proud owner sits lazily by his conglomeration of odd and ends that create a unique truck and bike. Every item that added curious character was a found object. From the snap-on wrench door handle to repurposed tire tread rear fender. A 650 twin Yamaha was the donor Moto under its patina’d skin. #Motoblot #Ratbike

Six Cylinders Three point Six liters- a bevy of Triumphs big parallel twins were spied at the show yesterday. Each 1200cc has its own particular character: from the bespoke Bobber, the sophisticated Bonneville and the speed fed Thruxton. I still think that solver grey faired Thruxton looks the best.

Bikes etc. – the annual gathering of the ‘alternate’ motorcycle scene on Fulton Street was enjoyed with plenty to look at. Here’s a taster in a four panel collage. The Kawasaki KZ was in more-than immaculate condition. A bobbed Triumph in ratty patina had a fun tank badge and leopard motif. A 1912 Indian with oily rag wipe down appearance. And a latter-day Royal Enfield looking the part for twisty secondary roads. More to come!

Baseball Tee – here’s bike builder Bryan Thompson’s t-shirt for Steve Caballero’s Scout special. I’m ordering one to add to my ever growing tee collection.

Go Skate! – Vert maestro Steve Caballero shows off his immaculate pre-unit ’52 Triumph custom with builder Bryan Thompson giving it a thumb’s up. The nostalgia oozes all over the bike: from the script tank badge and gold pinstriping, to the girder forks and saddle-maker leather seat or the leather handgrips with reversed control levers. It’s called ‘The Scout”. Good name.

Whiskered Warrior – let your beard flow free in the wind. Cockney advertising of a Doc booted bobber rider . Spring is nearly here! Old Man Winter has overstayed his welcome…

Three Twins and a Triple – let’s close the week off with this clutch of Hinckley goodies. The new cafe 900 Street Cup in bumblebee yellow striping and black engine cases certainly looked the part. A pearly tanked Speed Triple sitting like a repose cat ready to strike its prey. ‘Hard tail’ Bobber sits low and purposeful (I felt a bit cramped on it) ready to customize with a catalogue full of eye candy. Finally the sublime Thruxton in ‘Go-Faster’ red: I could look at this all day…
For some reason I didn’t take any photos of the Tigers… the 800 seems to be the most practical bike out there.

Serpents Kick – brass pedal and hoof: some brutally ornate bobbers have bespoke components such as this well wrought kick-start lever. Something quite sinuously pleasing about it.

BSA Bobber print – crisp ink impression of a lowrider Beeza by artist Blake Wiley. Thumbprint signature is a neat touch.

My buddy Dean saw this sales card in a Sears store where the automotive tools were. Craftsman ratchet and spark plug socket being put to good use on a bobber Triumph. The image is used in a number of advertising guises.
