Le Corbeau elle est morte!

Totaled | A sad day in GeordieBiker-ville. The insurance evaluation guy came by today and, after an exhaustive hour looking at the damage, wrote her off. Damages far exceed the value. Simple accounting with far reaching implications. The bike of my dreams was taken away in the back of a van.

The cat is drilling behind the sofa

Comedy Nite | An evening down in the City at the opulent Chicago Theatre to see funnyman Eddie Izzard.

Chicago & Main

Stop Light Intersection | Whilst commuting home there was an everyday street view in Evanston that I had to capture. A slightly motion blurred Triumph Speed Triple became the central focus as others made their way about town.

Architecture & Embroidery

Chi-Town Gangs | we had a day in west suburban Oak Park enjoying open house tours of Prairie Style homes from the early 20th Century. Here are some gang patches from this locality-such as the Road Runner MC. It’s a varied bunch much like the buildings we enjoyed today.

Geezers

Owld Moto’s | Sunday scoot up to Highwood for a coffee. Bikes are running pretty good. Weather was a tad cooler by the Lake. It was fun to be on the older machine.

Belvedere Services

Road Trip | A weekend venture to Minnesota. I’m staying in Madison Wisconsin tonight then will head over to the Mississippi and ride up the River Road to the Twin Cities tomorrow. Overcast so far but forecast promises brighter conditions in the morning.

Convergence

Vanishing Point | One more photo from the weekend. Clear roads and budding trees under a hazy spring sky. A pleasant perch indeed when haring along.

Lumber Company | a warm sunny Easter Sunday and after a tasty brunch at a local jazz bar “Le Piano” I grabbed the Tiger keys and went to enjoy the spring weather. Back roads past egg hunts, and key North Shore routes along the Lake brought me past this warehouse I have kept meaning to get a photo of. The yellow looks sunny under the clear blue sky.

Blueprint Carrier

Job Truck | a site meeting in the City today saw me motoring down a brisk Lake Shire Drive with a gusting breeze off the choppy waters of Michigan. A nip through urban traffic and easy parking. The plans didn’t blow off the back – that’s another story – and a discussion of good project particulars accomplished.

Woman in Charge

Girls Gotta Dream | Chicago selected a new Mayor yesterday; Lori Lightfoot – she’s black and gay: a trifecta in historic significance. The choice was achieved in a landslide victory by a population looking for change in the Windy City’s typical politics.. She got my vote and I hope we experience civic unity.

Motorrad

Bayerische Motoren Werke | a visit to Motorworks today on S Western to pick something up gave me a chance to see their refurbished digs. As of this weekend they are now also an official BMW dealership. So they now represent the trifecta of European machinery: Triumph, Ducati & BMW. I spied this very sharp R90s sitting near the parts department. Teutonic Twentieth Century technology at its ‘allerbeste’. The classic black/silver smoke tank is pure seventies superbike.

Commute

Work Horse | though a tad chilly the overhead clear skies and spring sun allowed me to utilize the Tiger to attend a site meeting out in St Charles on the Fox River. Winding back roads in Kane County and no-nonsense humping along the interstate meant an efficient yet fun trip. Hey, even when you’re grafting you may as well enjoy yourself!

Blue & Ice

The Cat’s Whisker | a sunny early spring day gave me an opportunity to haul the pussycat over back roads across Lake county into Wisconsin and a lap of the still frozen over Lake Geneva. New saddle was extremely comfy, new leather jeans and boots kept me cosy. A perfect flight to broom cobwebs out of the feathers.

Lakeside Livin’

Saddle Up! | I recently acquired a Corbin seat for the Tiger and after putting it on the bike went for a very brief spin down to the lake. Firm and comfy. Should make longer trips bearable for the butt.

The luck o’ the Irish

Sergeant Murphy | the stereotypical Irish American Motorcycle cop from the imaginative busy busy world of Richard Scarry was always zooming around on his red bike wearing a white crash helmet ‘lid’. I grew up with these books with a diverse animal citizenry. Happy St Patrick’s Day! The Chicago River is green here in the Windy City.
