Evening Ride – after a hot day the cooler air before sunset was perfect for an early summer jaunt up to Lake Bluff.

Dempster Street – passed a couple of parked American bikes as I drove between job sites today. Hefty Milwaukee Iron owned by garage mechanics. Well, when you spend all day crammed under an automobile, swingin’ your leg over a motorcycle at the end of the day is a perfect antidote.

Diner – monochrome photo of yesterday’s stop. Cheeseburger with bacon and fries. Sheridan Road Northshore drag back into Town.

Shadows – burger stop at Zogo’s in Zion IL. Good weather, nice roads and the bikes running well. Win-win-win!

April Shadows – clear blue skies, a chill breeze off the lake, and a pair of good looking Bonneville’s. A quick 50 mile round trip jaunt up to Lake Forest. Hot coffee and a breakfast bagel sarnie warmed frozen fingers. Felt good to get the wheels rolling…

Blowin’ out the Cobwebs- fired up the old gal today. Engine warmed up, remounted bars and controls adjusted for the run, then took a loop around the streets of Evanston. All good ready for a spring ride tomorrow.

Springfield MA – I spied this current model Indian Scout at the weekend. I really dig its lines, detail and character. If I had a Bobber it would be one of these. Tan leather saddle looks the business with the bronze tank badge.

Motoworks – open house down at Johnny Scheff’s excellent dealership. Triumph, Ducati, Royal Enfield and Vespa all represented. Service also caters for BMW. Sunny weather, burgers and good chat. The vintage license plate with 68 GIT was an old Bonnie.

Mongrel – For Sale locally is this splendid and rugged looking Triumph Mettise in cream color. Certainly looks the part and posted for $4,800. Wanna ride like Steve McQueen?

Motorcycle Mike – interesting doodle by cartoonist Frank King in a sheaf of autographs from 1915. King is known as the creator of Gasoline Alley, the second longest running cartoon strip (1918). A character in that strip was Skeezix who grew up and got old during the C20th. Motorcycle Mike was one of a number of characters developed by King in the mid teens for the Chicago Tribune.

Auto Show – pleasant evening wandering the ginormous exhibition halls of McCormick Place for the annual car show. Plenty to ogle at, sit in, inspect, consider. Here’s a small selection of some very nice items: Porsche 911 Carrera T (370); Ford GT (647); Ford Bullitt edition Mustang (475); and Stingray (750-ish). Horse power in parentheses.

ROAR! Midweek Cat on a tank! Seen at last years Motoblot bike show, hipster fun on two wheels. It’s like some WW2 warbird nose art.

Light at the end of the Tunnel – heading into the darkening days of December it seems the warming weeks of Spring seem far away. Well, it passes quick and before we know it days lengthen and temperatures rise.

Deepening Shadows- one thing about riding at this time of year is the light is low and the world around you has a sharp contrast between light and dark. Makes for great black & white photography. The photo was taken along The Melvin Amstutz Expressway IL 137 in Waukegan.

December – a last hurrah with near 60 degree temperatures and a suitable run to Wisconsin and our usual diner in Zion. Sunny skies, grey leafless trees and fairly quiet roads. Temperatures expected to drop below freezing over the next week or two then we be back out in Spring ’18.
