Gas Up – quick fueling stop mid-ride. Filling with 93 octane. The old valve seats would prefer leaded to protect them from regression but lower compression and trying to avoid ethanol additives help too.

BATMAN – looking back it’s a very tongue-in-cheek version of the caped crusader and his crime fighting escapades. But growing up with the show when Bruce Wayne was played cooly by a serious Adam West and your Corgi Batmobile would recreate his daring-do along with Boy Wonder Robin, there was nothing better. Sadly we hear of the recent passing of Adam West who owned this role – grey one piece, yellow utility belt, and satin glove and all.

Amal – the engine is getting a new lease of life. I have acquired a pair of brand spanking new carburetors to invigorate fuel delivery making sure the motor has plenty of oomph through the rev range. These classic concentric carbs are nice clean castings, good materials, serviceable parts, anodized slides, and are practically a bolt-on and ride item. I’ve had to carry out a couple of slight adjustments for my bike but hopefully I can put the air cleaners back on tomorrow and connect the fuel tank.

Vanishing Point – Look ahead: the future converges at a distance yet to be reached. Keep an eye on where you’re at, with the odd glance on where you’ve been. But mostly keep a butcher’s on the approaching road; it’ll be upon you before you know it.

Woodland Light – terrific weather today for a more than decent ride. Kept going up Old Green Bay Road into Wisconsin where some lovely back roads are found. The recent cool and wet weather has greened everything up to a verdant lushness. Cut grass smells hint an the coming heat of summer.

Highway 41 & Route 21 – Mid ride was held at The Point roadside diner. Skillet plate of eggs, sausage links, hash browns and a couple of pancakes, all washed down with coffee. Mostly overcast with the odd patch of blue sky. Bikes running well for a fine Sunday afternoon trip.

Selfie Sketch – trying out a new brush tipped drawing pen- here’s the first result. Based on a selfie view sitting astride the Bonnie. Not quite Jack Kirby but not bad for a 10 minute scribble.

There’s a’wys summat! When your machine is reaching half a century in age even a 100 mile jaunt can uncover a mechanical snafu. Here Dean finds that the small timing pin plug behind the cylinders decided to jump ship somewhere between Glencoe and Antioch. Upsetting pressure and spewing a fine mist of oil onto the frame he had to get a 1/2″ bolt from a Napa auto parts store to make a temporary fix.
Knowing your bike inside and out means these impromptu repairs just delay an otherwise smashing weekend ride…

Sunday Best – a glorious day to be out on two wheels. 70’s with clear blue skies and not to busy roads. A couple of lesser travelled routes for variation and a coffee stop in Antioch (we didn’t see Brother Maynard and his Holy Hand-grenade…) . I’m sportin’ my new tee from Bryan Thompson. Bike running pretty good though the return leg had a ten mile section of 15mph Sunday drivers… it’ll drive yer bonkers!

Midweek Blues – wish I was out on the road taking the Bonnie for a spin. Busy work means I need to wait until the weekend to get some wind to blow the old cobwebs out.

Sunny Sunday Outing – though the air was chill, beautiful clear blue skies, blooming crabapples & redbud lining the roads, and a diner stop in Zion halfway on the ride made up for the fresh lakefed breeze.

Fifty Years – like some scene from MadMen here’s the brochure from a New England showroom a guy and his gal out for some fresh air. Precision, Power, Performance… the cards were on the table though. Honda’s sublime 750 was on the drawing board in Japan ready for release and two-wheeled domination in ’69.
