Ink’d grandpappy | One of the fellow adventure riders at the weekend was a fella from Montenegro; now a BMW GS owner from Chicago he had some cool ink on his forearm. Inspired from a family photograph of his grandfather who rode Dniepr’s in the Croatian army back in the fifties. Good composition and image.
S’mores | When the tents are pitched, the tea brewed it’s time to build a fire and light it. Luckily there was an ‘honesty box’ wood shed near the weekend’s outing. The Tiger toted fuel for the fire pretty good. Graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows anyone?
It’s not IF it will happen, but WHEN | So this was the reason for shortening the weekend: I had an accident on the bike, the first serious one. At an intersection in deepest Illinois farmland as I was leading the group the route took a left turn at a Stop sign. As I rolled to a stop the bike behind me barreled into the rear of the Tiger. Next thing I knew it was a scattering of me and bikes. The Tiger is beat up superficially and I managed to ride it the 200 miles home last evening – I frankly don’t know how. Today I went to the ER. X-rays found 2 broken ribs, a fractured wrist and a crack at the tip of my ring finger. Splint, pain meds, then healing. Remember kids! All the gear all the time! I could have come off a lot worse! The ride to that point was marvelous!
Tiger Trail | the days riding around north east Illinois was enlightening. A good 150 miles of rural gravel roads crisscrossing Jo Daviess County. I learned to finally use the back brake on the loose surface; and to power through the looser gravel. The new tires performed exceptionally. The day (and weekend) were cut short… but we’ll get into that tomorrow…
Tramping | That stands for Triumph camping. Here’s the tent set up at Blandings Landing on the Illinois side of the Mississippi. Rolling farmland interspersed with shady woodland connected by clean gravel roads. Good ride across the Northern part of the state along Stagecoach Road.
Comedy Nite | An evening down in the City at the opulent Chicago Theatre to see funnyman Eddie Izzard.
Under a starry sky | Here’s a hint of what I’ll be getting up to this coming weekend… watch this space!
Stop Light Intersection | Whilst commuting home there was an everyday street view in Evanston that I had to capture. A slightly motion blurred Triumph Speed Triple became the central focus as others made their way about town.
Stay Cool | Effortlessly is how Steve McQueen maintains his aplomb attitude. White shirt, black tie and Persol shades. The Viceroy cigarette barely hanging to his lower lip is pure effect.
Belisha Beacon | Lady Bonneville zooming through Los Angeles. Denim and crimson jacket flutter in the breeze.

And, in the specialist topic of motorcycling, there are sub genres covering everything from custom, classic/vintage, off road, on road, Day-to-day riding, travel & adventure. We have a great magazine store in Evanston with a great selection.
Campagne brouiller | Blurred vision of rurality. As the Memorial Weekend approaches then plans can be made for trips out of the hustle and bustle of the City. Leafy roads and sleepy villages under a lofty sun.
The Ton | Welsh Racer Malcolm Uphill thrashing his Triumph Thruxton around the Isle of Man circuit in 1970. Wire fencing encloses livestock fields beyond the rural road.
Air | Spring sunlight and warmth arrived today. Spinning a race bike around a sun kissed track would have been a good way to spend it. White Daytona under a bleached sky.
There’s a fella down the chip shop… | This image was doing the rounds a couple of weeks ago. Late night talk show host and former Saturday Night Live member Jimmy Fallon dressed as Elvis riding a Triumph Bonneville with a bear sitting at pillion. Vegas is undoubtably the destination.
