A very short ride out in the sun today to have a quick go of the helmet camera. Some operational logistics to work on. Shutter button use, leveling, glare… practice needed!

This fifties Triumph Trophy looks like it spent its entire existence in this meadow. The golden hued sunshine warms the cuff rubbed patina.

Rebel Without a Cause saw Jimmy Dean as an angst ridden teen trying to assimilate into a post war town. This bronze sculpture has the protagonist cast as a determined youth riding his Triumph heralding an icon for the disenfranchised generation of the mid fifties.

Poorly | There May be some intermittent postings over the next few days. Back from our travels but full of a bad cold and hacking cough. Normal service will resume in due course…

We’re awa’ te Scotland on holiday. Back in a week’s time!

Cooper Coop | trying the garage for size before getting the bikes moved in. It’ll do nicely!

The Eagle has wings | So said Neil Armstrong as the LM separates from the CM on its way to the lunar surface fifty years ago today. Its spidery and seemed ungainly form was spare and ideally suited to the vacuum of space.

George | The new scooter arrived today. Fresh off the dealers floor and glimmering with subtle verdancy under a warm bright summer sun. Like the previous Tiger it fits me like a glove. Named after my grandfather who rode khaki colored British bike across North Africa during the War and our pup Geordie whose birthday it would be today.

Jim Clark – Farmer, Motor Racing Driver | on this day in 1968 tragedy struck the racing world when scot Jim Clark was killed in a Formula 2 race at Hockenheim Germany. Aged 32 his short but bright career saw him achieve great things in a very dangerous world. Seen as one of the greats his peers were shocked at the loss.
“He was so smooth, he was so clean, he drove with such finesse. He never bullied a racing car, he sort of caressed it into doing the things he wanted it to do” Sir Jackie Stewart

Saddle Up! | here’s the new perch on the Tiger. Like a BarcaLounger it creates a comfy place to enjoy the long road from. Dense foam concave shaped padding support the gluteus maximus as the miles accumulate under wheel.

New Zealand | it’s an almost forgotten corner of the world but by all accounts of visitors it’s one of the most beautiful place on the globe. Kiwis are a friendly lot and the indigenous Māori a proud people. Today’s shocking news of a terrorist attack with unsurpassable horror is a blow to humanity. Let us think of what good the antipodean nation gives the motorcycling community as a ray of light in this day of darkness: Burt Munro and his 1924 Indian Scout at home on The Salt; and genius John Britten with the sublime V1000 racebike.
