The Comets Tale: ex-RAF strip at Church Lawford near Rugby saw speed events such as this drag racing in ‘65. A half liter Vincent is the perfect vehicle upon which swiss-miss Margret Reiser has a snappy launch along the quarter mile runway. Apparently she rode the Comet all the way from Switzerland.

O my Luve’s like a red, motorcycle,
That’s newly put in tune:
O my Luve’s like the Bonneville,
That’s quickly rode vroom, vroom.

Steam Punk Rocker – Nicely sorted custom, built from a Triumph Scrambler, for racer, and former boxer, Sarah Lahalih. Created by the capable mechanic-artisan shop Garage Company owned by Los Angelean Yoshinobu Kosaka. Using a flat-track theme its low lines a reflected in the smooth grain of a wooden seat and crescent swept back handlebars. A leather clad tank, tanned to a warm complexion, with stitched “Triumph” logo emphasize the boardtrack chassis vision, supplemented with a springer fork front end. The leather strapped Pendleton wool blanket completes the look. All she needs is a South West weave covered water canteen and an adventure road from the nineteen twenties beckons. Westward Ho!

Descriptive Leader – when illustrating the superlative virtues of a new and better item it was all the rage to label obvious physical particulars as top-notch characteristics you couldn’t do without. Of course… draping a lassie along the length of it goes a long way too…

Inspector Clouseau – Britt Ekland sits pillion whilst Peter Sellers takes the captains saddle on this classy Moto Guzzi V700. It may have been whilst they were filming the joint British/Italian film “After the Fox”. The best bit in that film is a restaurant scene where Maria Grazia Buccella plays the beautiful Miss Okra.

Lords & Ladies – I was kindly informed that yesterday’s post were society photographer Patrick Anson, also known as Lord Lichfield, and Swedish actress, and ex-wife of Peter Sellers, Britt Ekland. Being in the thick of the swinging sixties he was always surrounded by beautiful women. A better view of that Honda.

Stylin’! – Motorcycle clothing can ensure unqualified coolness; but make sure you have the hair-do, heels and neckscarf to compliment the look otherwise forget it! Cafe’d moto is a late Sixties Honda CB450 Black Bomber. Sunglasses are aviator. Silk cravat? Pure Carnaby Street…

Back Seat – buoyant BSA rider takes a pew on the pillion seat of her ride whilst perusing a love note. There is a comfortable air to this image from a hundred years ago.

Drapery – Welly shod model looks a little uncomfortable posed like some Romantic artists muse reclined along the ‘chaise’ of a Triumph T160 Triple. Perhaps it’s from Tony Armstrong-Jones’s portfolio… (see yesterday’s post!)

ROCKET 3 – what a beaut this cafe racer build is! Eye-catching with a speed driven poise, and a homage to the BSA Daytona conquering triples of the early seventies ridden by Dick Mann and Don Emde (Gene Romero ran the triple engined Triumph). Builder is the extremely talented Frenchman Pepo Rosell of XTR Pepo using a 2000 Triumph Legend 900 as the starting point. Original 750/3 engine designer Doug Hele and frame guru Rob North would be proud.

Beryl & Tony – a current series on Netflix is The Crown, about The Queens life as a monarch from early days post WW2 to the present day. Its second season is covering the late fifties which, whilst the country has to deal with the Suez Crisis as well as Sputnik, her younger sister Margaret-Rose is enduring life as a royal single gal. She’s just met Antony Armstrong-Jones a hip photographer and lad about Town. He sweeps her off her feet for a tear through London’s streets on a peachy period TriumphThunderbird. Goggles and domed lids keeping them protected as they scoot over the Albert Bridge and along the Embankment. Ably played by Vanessa Kirby and Matthew Goode it reminds me of my days taking my wife-to-be home from her job at a bookstore in Kensington. The main photo is the real couple on a Norton. He snapped his photos with a Leica Rangefinder for naturally lit spontaneity.
